Word Censoring

The new version of the phpbb offers word censoring.

On the GetPHPbb boards we implemented a few censored words. The reason we did this was the ads displayed by Google Ads are based on analysis of the words in our posts. Therefore, our boards often had topical ads to our discussion. But that opened us up to ads ill-matched to our board should google adwords pick up on an inappropriate word before the moderators have had a chance to deal with the issue. Therefore by having censoring in place, it lowered the risk that inappropriate ads will appear.

Now that our boards no longer have advertising, we've removed the word censoring.

But, if the community feels there is a need for it to be implemented, we can do so. Please contact a moderator or administrator if you have concerns about a particular word in a thread.
