The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, an Arkansas City, Kansas, establishment, is recalling approximately 14,158 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Why: Mislabeling. Egg allergen not declared on the label.
Scope: Nationwide

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Kashi, of La Jolla, California, is recalling approximately 2,790 pounds of Kashi Southwest Style Chicken products because the packages may instead contain Kashi Chicken Pasta Pomodoro, which contains an undeclared allergen, egg. Egg is a known allergen, which may not be declared on the label.

Yamaya Pork Loin Cutlet Fritter Recall

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Yamaya USA a Torrance, California, establishment, is recalling approximately 612 pounds of pork loin cutlet fritter products because they contain monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is not declared on the label.

Lean Cuisine Spaghetti with Meatballs Recall

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Nestle Prepared Foods Company, a Gaffney, South Carolina, establishment, is recalling approximately 10,260 pounds of frozen spaghetti and meatball entrees that may contain foreign materials.

The products subject to recall include:

9.5 oz. packages of Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites, Spaghetti with Meatballs.
The packages bear the establishment number "Est. 7991" and the case code "0298595519P" and a best before date of November, 2011 printed on the side of the package, underneath the ingredient listing. The spaghetti and meatball products were packaged on Oct. 25, 2010, and shipped to distributors and retail stores east of the Rocky Mountains.

Annie's has determined this is not a health risk but wants to remove the product from shelves because it does not meet the company's quality standards.

Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna Recall
Date: March 22, 2011
What: Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna
Why: E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
Scope: California, Colorado, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Palmyra Bologna Company, a Palmyra, Pennsylvania, establishment, is recalling approximately 23,000 pounds of Lebanon bologna products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Lebanon bologna is a fermented, semi-dry sausage, that has an appearance similar to salami.

The products subject to recall in packaging for consumers include:

6 ounce packages of Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot code "01351" and best-by date of "Apr. 20 2011" printed on the package.
12 ounce packages of Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot code "01351" and best-by dates of "Apr. 20 2011" or "Apr. 21 2011" printed on the package.
16 ounce packages of Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot code "01351" and best-by date of "Apr. 22 2011" printed on the package.

Each package bears a label with establishment number "EST. 474" inside the USDA mark of inspection, in addition to lot code "01351" and the best-by date as noted above. The products subject to recall were produced in December 2010 and were sent to distribution centers in California, Colorado, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania. for further distribution to retail stores.

The products subject to recall in packaging for retailers include:

Whole chub packages of Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot codes "01351" or "06337" and best-by date of "Feb. 14 2011," "Feb. 15 2011," "Feb. 16 2011," or "Feb. 28 2011" printed on the package.
Half chub packages of Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot codes "01351" or "06337" and best-by date of "Apr. 6 2011," "Apr. 7 2011," "Apr. 16 2011," or "Apr. 19 2011," printed on the package.
12 pound bulk boxes of sliced Seltzer's Beef Lebanon Bologna with lot code "01351" and best-by date of "Apr. 21 2011" printed on the package.

Del Monte Fresh Produce Cantaloupes Recall
Date: March 22, 2011
What: Del Monte Fresh cantaloupes
Why: Salmonella panama contamination.
Scope: Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington

Del Monte Fresh Produce of Coral Gables, Florida, is recalling 4,992 cartons of cantaloupes, each containing 4 plastic mesh sleeves with 3 cantaloupes per sleeve, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella panama, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella Panama often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella panama can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The cantaloupes were distributed through warehouse clubs in Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

The recalled products consist of cartons of cantaloupes, each containing 4 plastic beige mesh sleeves each sealed with a plastic orange handle with the Del Monte Logo and indication "3 count, Product of Guatemala" with 3 cantaloupes per sleeve and were available for sale between the 10th of March and the 21st of March, 2011. The cantaloupes, grown in and shipped from Del Monte Freshs’ farm Asuncion Mita in Guatemala, have a light brown color skin on the exterior, with orange flesh. The recalled cartons of cantaloupes are dark brown cardboard with the "Del Monte" logo in red lettering and "cantaloupes" in yellow lettering on a green background. The cantaloupes have the lot codes: 02-15-24-10, 02-15-25-10, 02-15-26-10, and 02-15-28-10.

Pickled Sliced Beets Recalled
Date: March 21, 2011
What: Pickled Sliced Beets packaged under Bountiful Harvest, Code Elite, Comsource Medal, Lakeside, Monarch, Nugget Black, Restaurant Pride, and Sysco Classic brands.
Why: Under processed and potential for contamination.
Scope: AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, and WI

Lakeside Foods of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is initiating a recall of 3000 cases of 105 ounce canned pickled sliced beets because some cans may have been under processed. While no illnesses have been reported, these cans have the potential to be contaminated with harmful organisms including Clostridium botulinum. Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause general weakness, dizziness, double vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distention, and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention. Consumers also are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

Lakeside is asking consumers who have cans of the Pickled Sliced Beets with codes EFBB229/003034 and EFBB229/003047 on the can to return them unopened to the place of purchase.

The product was distributed in the following states AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, and WI. The product was sold with the followmg labels: Bountiful Harvest, Code Elite, Comsource Medal, Lakeside, Monarch, Nugget Black, Restaurant Pride, and Sysco Classic.
