Satur Farms of Cutchogue, New York, is recalling 88.5 pounds of Satur Farms Cilantro because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The Satur Farms Cilantro was distributed in New York City and Long Island, New York.

The cilantro in question was distributed to food service customers in 1/2 lb. and 1 lb. bulk bags which contained a small white stick-on label with four digit number lot number 6361.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The presence of Salmonella was detected by the FDA in a routine test. Satur Farms has conducted independent tests of our cilantro and cilantro seed through Alliant Food Safety Labs, and all findings have come up negative for Salmonella, however the farm is recalling this lot of cilantro as a precautionary measure.

None of the recalled cilantro was shipped to retail markets. Food service customers who purchased Satur Farms Cilantro from the lot in question are urged to return it to Satur Farms. What: Pierre’s® Smooth Churned Light Ice Cream
Why: Mispackaged. Wheat allergen not declared on the label.

Pierre’s Ice Cream Company of Cleveland, Ohio, is recalling a limited number of containers of Pierre’s Smooth Churned Light Ice Cream because it was mispackaged and may contain undeclared wheat. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of an allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The lid identifies the product as Pierre’s Waffle Cone Sundae Smooth Churned Light Ice Cream. The tub portion or package identifies the product as Pierre’s Moose Tracks Smooth Churned Light Ice Cream. The product inside the tub is "Waffle Cone Sundae," which contains wheat and is not identified on the ingredient label.

The affected product was distributed only to Giant Eagle stores in Northeast Ohio. The affected mispackaged product is packaged in 1.5 quart (1.42 l) paperboard tubs with a "Waffle Cone Sundae" lid, "Moose Tracks®" tub portion with UPC 0 48178 33036 9, located on the side of the tub, and in combination with code dates running: 11014 39-62 13:17 3 through 11014 39-62 13:30 3 stamped on the rim of the lid.

The allergy alert and recall relates only to the above mentioned mispackaged Pierre’s Smooth Churned Light Ice Cream. No other Pierre’s ice cream products are affected.

No adverse reactions have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after the company received a consumer call about the mispackaged product. The company determined that product containing wheat was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat in the ingredients statement on the tub.

Consumers who purchased the mispackaged ice cream with UPC 0 48178 33036 9 and in combination with code dates running: 11014 39-62 13:17 3 through 11014 39-62 13:30 3 stamped on the rim of the lid are urged to discard the ice cream and send the lid back to Pierre’s Ice Cream Company for a full refund:

Taylor Farms Pacific of Tracy, California, has been notified by grower Six L’s that a specific lot of grape tomatoes supplied to Taylor Farms Pacific may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may experience fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases the organism can get into the bloodstream and cause more serious complications.

This lot of grape tomatoes was used in the following products made by Taylor Farms Pacific for Albertsons, Raley's, Safeway, Savemart, Sam's Club, and Walmart. The affected products are being recalled.

The majority of the product involved was still in Flowers' possession and has been pulled from the company's distribution system. Porky Products of Carteret, New Jersey, is recalling Salted Smoked Split Herring (bloaters) because it has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to consume the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate attention.

The Salted Smoked Split Herring (Bloaters), were distributed in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, North Carolina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania through supermarkets.

The product is in 18 lb. boxes with a lot number of 274 10 which were distributed to the market from April 14-28, 2011.

The product is imported from Canada and is uneviscerated. It may have the potential to cause botulism. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Smithfield Packing Company of Clinton, North Carolina and Tar Heel, North Carolina, is recalling approximately 216,238 pounds of Portobello Mushroom flavored pork loins because some of the product may contain an undeclared allergen. The product was prepared using an ingredient blend that contained whey (from milk), a known allergen, which was not declared on the label.

The products subject to recall are:

Various weight individual packages of Smithfield Portobello Mushroom Pork Loin Filet.
The products subject to recall bear the USDA mark of inspection on the label and "EST. 413" or "EST. 18079" inside the mark of inspection. Affected products from "EST. 413" bear a use by date ranging from 12/26/10 to 6/02/11. Affected products from "EST. 18079" bear a use by date ranging from 1/16/11 to 4/24/11. These products were distributed in retail outlets in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. While the sell-by dates for many of these products has passed, FSIS and the establishment are aware that consumers may also freeze the product before use and there is concern that some product may still be frozen and in consumers’ freezers.

The company recently reformulated the product. During an internal label review by the firm it was discovered that the label of the Portobello spice being utilized did not match the ingredient list of the final product. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Update: Andrew Williamson Fresh Produce is expanding the geographic scope of its recall of organic grape tomatoes. Although the volume of cases from the original production lot has not changed, the company recognizes the possibility that some customers may have distributed the organic grape tomatoes beyond the original 18 states. Therefore, the company is extending the recall to all states in the U.S. The recall includes Canada, as initially indicated.

Andrew Williamson Fresh Produce is recalling one lot of organic grape tomatoes sold under the Limited Edition and Fresh & Easy labels due to a possible health risk from Salmonella.

The recall notice is being issued because one clamshell of Limited Edition organic grape tomatoes tested positive for Salmonella in a random sample collected and tested by the United States Department of Agriculture in Michigan.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

No illnesses have been reported in association with this product.

The organic grape tomatoes are sold in 10.5 oz. plastic clam shell containers containing UPC 033383655925, located on the front of the package, below the barcode. The containers also have the words "LIMITED EDITION" and "Product of Mexico" printed on the label. The organic grape tomatoes are also sold in 7 oz. plastic clam shell containers with Barcode 20025465, and marketed under the Fresh & Easy brand. The organic grape tomatoes were distributed to 18 states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Ontario.

Consumers who have any remaining product with UPC 033383655925 or Barcode 20025465 should not consume it but should instead discard it. As an added safety measure, retailers are encouraged to check their inventories and store shelves to confirm that product is no longer available for purchase.

No other “best when used by” dates of Velveeta Shells & Cheese Single Serve Microwaveable Cups or any other Kraft Foods products are being recalled.

There have been no reports of consumer injuries or complaints. Kraft Foods is issuing this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution.

Approximately 137,000 cases of the affected products were shipped to customers across the United States. The affected products were not distributed in Canada.

Consumers who purchased affected “best when used by” dates of these products should not eat them. They should return them to the store of purchase for an exchange or full refund. Consumers also can contact Kraft Foods Consumer Relations Monday through Friday at 1-800-308-1841.

The affected products were manufactured in Champaign, IL and Lakeville, MN.
