Organic Food Bar of Fullerton, California, is recalling selected lots of Chocolatey Chocolate Chip RAW Organic Food Bars listed below, because they may contain undeclared peanut proteins. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these lots of products mentioned below.

RAW Organic Food Bar Chocolatey Chocolate Chip was distributed nationally in USA and Canada. The product reached consumers through retail stores, mail order, direct delivery, and other routes. The affected products listed below were shipped in 12 pack cartons to each outlet or direct to consumers.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product contained peanut allergen through cross contamination of raw materials. The firm is investigating if the affected products contained peanut allergen through cross contamination of raw materials by one of our vendors since at the time we were a peanut free facility. The company has since changed its suspected vendor of cashew butter. The new vendor has a dedicated cashew line and claims no chance of cross contamination.

Consumers who purchased RAW Organic Food Bar Chocolatey Chocolate Chip with the lot number and expiration dates mentioned above are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Summersweet Gourmet seafood dips are being recalled becaue they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The following Summersweet Gorumet dips are affected by this recall:

Summersweet Gourmet Crab & Roasted Red Pepper Dip, 8 oz.
Summersweet Gourmet Crab & Fine Herb Dip, 8 oz.

Why: Salmonella contamination
Scope: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont

Jonathans Sprouts of Rochester, Massachusetts, is recalling its conventional alfalfa sprout products with sell-by date of 4/23 (see list below), because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The following six products, each sold in plastic containers, approximately 4 inches cube, are affected:

Jonathan’s 4 oz. Alfalfa Sprouts, sell-by 4/23
Jonathan’s 4 oz. Alfalfa with Radish Sprouts, sell-by 4/23
Jonathan’s 4 oz. Gourmet Sprouts, sell-by 4/23
Jonathan’s 4 oz. Alfalfa with Dill Sprouts, sell-by 4/23
Jonathan’s 8 oz. Alfalfa Sprouts, sell-by 4/23
In addition, Jonathan’s 5 lb. Bulk Alfalfa in waxed 18" x 11" cardboard cartons, code 397, is also affected by this recall.

The products containing alfalfa sprouts were distributed in New York, New England, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. They are sold at A&P, Grand Union, Stop & Shop, Shaws, Hannaford, Donnelans, Foodmaster, Truccis, and Roche Brothers stores.

Jonathan’s organic alfalfa sprouts or any of Jonathan’s organic products are not part of this recall.

No illnesses attributed to these products have been reported.

The product being recalled was identified through routine sampling as part of the USDA Microbiological Data Program.

Consumers who purchased Jonathans Sprouts products containing alfalfa sprouts with sell-by date 4/23 are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (508) 763-2577.

Why: Contains walnut allergen not declared on the label.
Scope: California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington

See’s Candies of San Francisco, California, is recalling one code of 4.25 ounce Mayfair Eggs, with Cherries & Pecans because they contain walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The total number of eggs produced with walnuts in place of pecans is 600.

The product was distributed through See’s owned retail shops in Northern California (San Jose and north), Northern Nevada (Reno), Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota and Illinois.

The product is sold individually in boxes labeled See’s Candies Mayfair with Cherries & Pecans. The code, 138, is visible thru the cellophane window of the box on the top tab.

There is no reported allergen reaction or illness attributed to this product.

Concerned consumers who have Mayfair Egg, code 138 should return them to any See’s Candies Shop for a full refund. Any consumers with questions about this recall should also contact See’s Consumer Affairs at 800-789-7337.

Why: Contains sulfites not declared on the label

S & M Enterprise of Brooklyn, New York, is recalling Grove Grow Notes Dried Taro because the product contains undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

Grove Grow Notes Dried Taro is sold in a 14 ounce, un-coded, clear plastic package and was distributed nationwide. It is product of China.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in Grove Grow Notes Dried Taro which was not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who are allergic to sulfites and purchased Grove Grow Notes Dried Taro are urged to return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (917) 662-7995.

What: Great Value Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup
Why: Mispackaged. Milk allergen not declared on the label.
Scope: Nationwide. Sold in Walmart stores.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Bay Valley Foods, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, establishment, is recalling approximately 188,181 pounds of Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup because it may contain an undeclared allergen. The label indicates the can contains Chicken Noodle Soup, however, it may contain Cream of Chicken Soup. The product was prepared using an ingredient blend that contained milk, a known allergen, which was not declared on the label.

The product subject to recall is:

10.5 oz. cans of Great Value Reduced Sodium Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup.

The products subject to recall bear the USDA mark of inspection on the label, and the establishment number "P-51," and best-by date of "09 29 12" ink-jetted on the bottom of each can. These products were produced on September 29, 2010, and were distributed to a retail establishment nationwide.

The problem was discovered after Bay Valley Foods received a customer complaint that the soup was incorrectly labeled. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Simply Asia Foods is recalling Thai Kitchen Noodle Carts (Sweet Citrus Ginger, Thai Peanut, and Spicy Thai Basil) and Simply Asia Noodle Bowl (Roasted Peanut). These products contain an undeclared milk ingredient. People who have an allergy to milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The recalled Thai Kitchen Noodle Carts were distributed to retail stores nationally beginning October 1, 2009. Sweet Citrus Ginger and Spicy Thai Basil Noodle Carts are packaged in 9.70 oz. single serve bowls and Thai Peanut Noodle Cart is a 9.77 oz. single serve bowl. The Thai Peanut Noodle Cart is also packaged into a four pack including 2 Pad Thai Noodle Carts and 2 Thai Peanut Noodle Carts. Pad Thai Noodle Carts are not affected by this recall.

The recalled Simply Asia Noodle Bowl Roasted Peanut was distributed to retail stores nationally beginning September 23, 2010. The Roasted Peanut Noodle Bowl is packaged in an 8.5 oz. single serve bowl.

The recall was initiated after discovering that an ingredient being used contains low levels of sodium caseinate, a milk derivative, in coconut powder. The ingredient statements on the packages do not list milk as an ingredient.

UPC codes affected by this recall are: 37628-01024, 37628-01027, 37628-01023, 37628-01038, and 54285-00087.

Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. If you have an allergy to milk, do not consume the product. Consumers may contact Simply Asia Foods Consumer Affairs team at 800-967-8424, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or weekends from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, for a replacement or full refund, as well as instructions on what to do with the product.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Oberto Sausage Company, a Kent, Washington, establishment, is recalling approximately 772 pounds of beef jerky products because they contain an undeclared allergen, soy, which is not declared on the label. Soy is a known allergen.

The product subject to recall is:

4.16 oz. canisters of Lowrey's Hickory Smoked Beef Jerky, containing 3 individual snack packs of 6 beef jerky sticks. These products have a best-by date of 130412 01, printed on the bottom of each canister.
Each canister bears the establishment number "EST. 2862B" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were produced on April 15, 2011, and were distributed to retail establishments in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered by the company during a label review, and occurred because of a printing error made by its label maker. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider.

Six L's of Immokalee, Florida, is recalling a single lot of grape tomatoes, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The strain of Salmonella has not been determined.

No illnesses have been reported.

The specific lot was packed on April 11 and was comprised of grape tomatoes that can be identified by Cherry Berry lot code DW-H in either in clam shells or 20 lb. cardboard containers. The product was distributed to North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia and Canada, and reached consumers through retail stores and restaurant distribution.

The contamination was detected through a random sample obtained by the U.S. Department of Agriculture at a distributor in New York. The product is from a farm in Estero, Florida, which has since ceased production of that commodity.

The recall does not include any other tomatoes or produce distributed by Six L's. Consumers who purchased the specific lot of grape tomatoes mentioned above are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Quinault Tribal Enterprise of Taholah, Washington, is recalling all canned seafood products including all Salmons, smoked and non-smoked; Tuna, smoked and non-smoked; Smoked Sturgeon; Minced Razor Clams; smoked Razor Clams; and smoked Steelhead. The canned seafood products are being recalled because they were not adequately processed according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's low-acid canned food regulations. Canned seafood that is not processed following those food safety requirements may be contaminated with harmful microorganisms that can cause serious and possibly life-threatening illness. Consumers are warned not to use the products even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide through distributors and retail stores.

The products are packaged in metal cans in various sizes (5 oz., 6 oz., 6.5 oz., and 7 oz.) and labeled under the Quinault Pride or Quinault Tribal Enterprises brand. All manufacturing codes are subject to this recall.

This issue was found during FDA inspection at Quinault Tribal Enterprises and Quinault Tribal Enterprises.
