Hi! I'm new here!

Postby Ivy » Thu Sep 06, 2012 10:00 pm

Hi! :D

My name's Ivy and I'm new here. I'm an emptynester gma to 7 grandsons ages 1, 3 1/2, 8 3/4, 12, 13 3/4, 15 1/2, and 15 3/4. Some of them stayed with us 31 days this summer, so I'm getting my house back into shape in baby steps. I'm 60 and DH turns 71 in Oct. and yesterday was our 42nd wedding anniversary.

I love to crochet, take care of our home, and pen pal, too.

Just wanted to say hello. Have a good night and Happy TGIF tomorrow, too. :)

Hi Ivy. Welcome. As you can see I am an Emptynester, too. Some here call me MT. DH and I retired in 2002 and 2003, sold the house and hit the road as full time Rvers. We are slowing down now (I'm 71 and he is 75) and purchased a house in a retirement RV community in AZ.

We are on our summer travels - right now in IL but headed west and will get back to our house sometime in mid to late Oct.

We spend most of our time in PWYC but usually hit the other threads, too.

Welcome, Ivy!
I like your avatar.
Is that your own cat, or do you have one like it, or do you just like the picture?

Welcome, Ivy! You're probably figuring all of us out from our PWYC conversations -- I'm the one who is acting like she is the first person in the world to ever have a grandchild, LOL! Our first -- dgs -- is almost 11 weeks old. DH & I are a little over-the-top w/this new experience! DS28 (our only child) ddil have been married a little over 2 years and live just a few miles from us.
I will also be a new retiree in about 8 months. I'm retiring after 30 years teaching high school -- 9th grade English. It is still a little bit of a traumatic decision for me -- I'm "only" 51 years old, and I do still enjoy teaching -- but dh has been retired about 13 years now, and he'd like to stop arranging our lives based on the school schedule. For the past 6 years, I've been thinking this probably should be the year -- our niece graduates this year -- but with dgs's arrival, I think the Lord really gave me a sign I can't ignore.
So -- I've been a member of this village about 10 years or so now -- and I am STILL struggling sooo much w/making myself "just do it." (I suspect I'm a little bit lazy! ) But I have learned sooo much from these wonderful ladies! We're glad to have you join us!
Tomorrow is another day.
