Getting ready for fall challenge

Postby CathyS » Thu Sep 01, 2022 7:54 am

It's getting cooler. Time to start harvesting the garden and getting the outside area of our homes ready for the cold. Are you ready?

I had heard that you shouldn't trim/prune bushes in months without an "r". Well... September is here and I have pruning to do. Our neighbours NEVER trim/prune the hedge that grows along our driveway, so the electric clippers are coming out either today or tomorrow.

There is a fall "festival" that dh wants to go to this weekend. I've gotten some nice things there before, so I think we'll go.

It's also time to start thinking about getting stuff put away outside as well.

I had never heard that -- about not pruning in months without an "r" -- but it makes sense. I have heard that you never prune while something is blooming, and for most things, that would be the summer months, wouldn't it?
Of course, I did go out and trim the stray runners from my newly pruned shrubs, in July and August. Oh well. Those things are forever going to be a thorn in my side. (Pun intended -- In more ways than one!)

Getting ready for fall here doesn't involve much.
Tomorrow is another day.
