Lifetime learning chat - guys, we'd BETTER do it. Love your brain. Get busy making those neuron connections. If you don't want to lose it, use it - preferably in new ways, new media/materials, new creativity, new ponderings.

Discouragement chat - so, then, we should charge ourselves with saying to young people, "you can do anything you set your mind, to", and "I believe in you", and "cool! that sounds like fun."

Come to think of it, that's what we should be saying to ourselves. If anyone knows how smart we are, it's us.

Recommending blessedw2 (and everyone else) ignore anyone who says not to learn new things. You never know when the knowledge will be useful. I got database training back in 2004 or 2005, then got a job where i did not use it. Now I use it every day at my current job. Knowledge from those classes was directly applicable in my interview.
