Quick post -- need to take care of 2nd load of laundry * washer just beeped *
I have (so far)
done two loads of laundry,
s/s all baths,
cleaned vaporizer,
had breakfast, vitamins, and Bible reading,
talked to ds,
talked to dfriend,
called dmom (but she didn't answer)
and walked 2 miles.
Need to s2s and finish laundry... then cook supper. Having tacos tonight w/ds & family.
Also need to call allergy doctor for refills on shots.

Mmmmm... muffins sound good, Nancy!

Hope everything is okay w/LO, LadyM. (((Hugs))) re: your dmom. And WOW -- WTG on 10K steps before 10:00 a.m. I understand about the weather reports. Same thing here -- sometimes they predict severe weather and * fortunately * it doesn't materialize... but then, people do get less concerned w/future reports.

So glad your dh does not need surgery, Cathy!

I definitely KWYM, Twins, about losing momentum. It happens to me if I even walk out the door! If I go out and do my walk before any of the household tasks... POOF... it seems like I'm done for the day. But if I do just a little bit before I go out, seems like I can keep going when I come back in.

Still got to figure out some way to get going on Saturdays... It seems b/c I know dgs is coming in the late afternoon, I want to justify napping and resting all day before he arrives. But it just makes me feel all draggy and like a slug.

WTG, Kathryn... looks like you are moving, moving...

EEEK! Hornets, blessed? Yikes!

Interesting about the fitting rooms, Sadie. LOL... about how some people fling the doors open w/no concern for modesty. * sheesh *

I am a tiny bit concerned about the transgender restrooms, and especially shower rooms/dressing rooms at gyms, etc. Although it is highly unlikely I will EVER be in a shower room or dressing room at a gym, LOL! I will take dgs into the restroom with me until he is old enough to protest loudly about that -- and the risk of a male sex offender in a male restroom has always existed and always will, I guess -- but I would not want a man in the women's restroom. If he LOOKS like a woman (Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner?) and uses a stall like any other woman, then I guess there's no problem. But if he insists on having a urinal provided (I saw that rumor online, don't know if it's true) and uses it... now that would be a problem for me. That's just my humble opinion.

Sad to hear about your church problems, Elizabeth. I hope y'all can find a suitable leader and keep the class going.

Waving to EVERYONE!!! Must get moving... moving...
Tomorrow is another day.

Was just told they are letting school out 2 hours early tomorrow because of the predicted tornadoes. Weather men are convinced the weather models are right.

I spent my hour of down time cleaning the kitchen. I did watch the latest episode of The Good Wife while cleaning.

2nd load of laundry hanging to dry -- some of it tumbling in dryer.

Called allergy nurse for refills. Talked to her about dgs also -- do you know she said she had heard a dermatologist once recommended Crisco shortening to one of her patients -- cover in Crisco and wrap the area w/Saran wrap or something similar to produce heat so the pores would open and the oil could seep in. She said the child finally improved. Wow. I certainly hope the dermatologist can give ds/ddil some less messy suggestions. * whew *
Tomorrow is another day.

Not as productive as I might be. Guys are here installing the window; they kept saying what a tight fit it was going to be. Looks like its in, tho.

Happy for your dh, Cathy!

Elizabeth, glad you enjoyed it. Dd here had predicted you would have no soreness, because I'd mentioned to her that I thought I should warn you. She asked about what activity you already did and as soon as I said belly dancing she told me there was no reason to warn, then. Some people can have soreness in their waists at the sides, especially if they start with a full class time at first - that's why I thought of you.

Sincere transgender people won't fluster me either. But after witnessing the difficulties of mall security with large restrooms back in the 70s, I'm sure problems are coming at us now if we stray too far legally from our hundreds of years of restroom status-quo. Of those who attempted various unscrupulous things then, at least the ones discovered sneaking behind opposite-sex doors would have to cut and run just hearing the word "police". There was no explanation they could give, nothing to say to confuse the situation - clearly in the wrong. Women prostitutes who hid in men's bathrooms to suggest a hotel, men who broke pocketbook-holders hoping to come back to steal purses under the stall - I've seen both those types run desperately before police got there. Now I must wonder if there will be as much rush.

My morning was movin'! Morning Daily Card done well, exercises done well (I took a minute to start a towels load of laundry before beginning exercise ). Some church Desk Day. A good brunch. Then got ready for the funeral and made it on time, also picking up a prescription.

I don't need a Mother's Day present from ds for sure, and I've told him so. He was on the phone with me helping direct me to the church, met me in the parking lot in his dress blues (sheriff's office funeral), and escorted me in, remembering to put my phone on vibrate for me. And always a joy to sing beside him. There were a lot of tears around us, and when our friend and his son spoke, ds had to wipe an eye himself. Outside, he knew all the protocol for the receiving line and took me with him among the two-by-two uniforms, so he didn't lose me. lol.

A 200-year-old Methodist congregation, lucylee, so I thought of you. All the hymns one expects for a man's service. Another son played the piano in a medley. The deceased had often been told he looked just like Tommy Faile (country singer-comedian), and our friend told a great story of having to go to help with an arrest of a notoriously angry, strong fellow who was difficult to restrain. When his ddad came on the scene, the fellow said, "Tommy Faile! What are you doing here?" And his ddad said that this was his second job to make ends meet, and did he want to ride downtown with him in the front seat of the car? And the fellow went happily without any more trouble.

Re: bathrooms

As I understand it, the NC law requires you to go into the gender bathroom indicated on your birth certificate. So Caitlyn Jenner will have to use the men's room and a Chaz Bono will be going into the ladies room. Seems to me the only ones at risk in these scenarios are those who appear as genders that don't match their birth certificate.

A gay man would also go into a men's bathroom. Just as he does now. Same for a gay woman. The only people affected by this are the trans-gendered.

As for unisex bathrooms, nowhere have I seen a law allowing urinals in unisex bathrooms, unless it is a single use bathroom and the sole person inside chooses between a urinal or toilet.

When one thinks of cultures where women and men don't mix, Muslim springs to mind. Yet the washrooms at the Grand Mosque in Casablanca were communal. There were dozens of stalls, you walked in the main room, picked a stall, closed/locked the door behind you, did your business, came out, and washed your hands at the row of sinks.

It is no big deal. It is efficient use of space since women take longer than men to go to the bathroom due to biology and dress-code. Although it is likely quicker now that chastity belts are a thing of the past. And it makes it much safer for parents of opposite sex children since they can be supervising directly, rather than allowing the child to go into a bathroom by themselves.

Locker rooms are slightly different. No solution here. Again, I figure the trans people need to sort themselves into the rooms they identify as, for their own safety but in this case, I can see why locker rooms would be tough on gays (not so much lesbians) and don't have a solution for that.

Little progress on non-housework today.

Handed over the signed forms to our co-sponsor. Tonight they put everything together, tomorrow they scan, and send off. Wednesday she goes on a 10 day silent retreat so I'll be the main contact if there are questions from Toronto (the first place the forms are sent.)

I have a book on hold at the library so may drive over there to get it, get the car washed and pick up pizza for dinner.

Tomorrow I start in on my "Before Becoming a Grandmother" goals. So it is pizza tonight!

Here's something that made me happy today: I do not need a tetanus shot! I am still working through the endless problems associated with getting a new computer. Now I cannot access the cube generating project. Testing the connection works, but the project never actually connects, just gives me endless dialogs saying I should! I have an email out to an expert. I finally succeeded in accessing an online health report. Their password reset link is broken on the English pages, but I could do it from the Spanish pages. I would like to report the problem, but there is no phone number or any contact info on the website. (Maybe there is in Spanish, but I don't know the language THAT well).

I added to my list for tonight: contact prior dance teacher to get the video I bought of our performance. She passed them out at the last class, but we both knew I would not be there. She said she would email me about it, but I am sure it has slipped her mind. I hope I can find an email or phone number. If not, I know someone who can get it for me.

More animal org drama <SIGH>. Chief troublemaker is still undermining the cat program coordinator, but now behind her back, so she only finds out from others. He has also driven off one of the DOG volunteers. The environment he has set up among the dog people is that everyone tattles to him about everyone else.

While I was at UT Austin, I shared a restroom with a transgender woman for more than a year before even finding out. Turned out it was common knowledge, as the transition was occurring on campus, one of the professors.

So glad to hear the no-surgery report from CathyS!
