I'm just now getting here, although I've been up since around 8 a.m. I spent awhile on the computer, then dd came down and we talked and talked about temple biz - so much so that I had to shoo her off finally. While talking I did get the kitchen cleaned up and had my breakfast, but I hadn't even CUOP-ed here from last night.

I have a list going for today and for the week but I feel so absent minded, I know there's stuff that I'm forgetting. I'd like to have a day or afternoon at the local library this week. On the state library and archive website, I found that they have a microfilm of a "family record collection" on my Jefferson CO TN family - it goes along with the book I photographed a couple of weeks ago. And I can order the microfilm on interlibrary loan and look at it here too!

We're having the neighborhood "Mix and Mingle" here on Thurs evening. I scheduled dcleaning lady to come on Thurs afternoon instead of Friday a.m. so I won't have to clean at least. I'll clean up the front and back porch later in the week - the pollen is so bad here it will be dusty again tomorrow if I do it now.

I'm getting sucked into "source citation" discussions on Facebook today.

helia, there's a lot of discussion about the "Genetic Ancestry" that Ancestry and other DNA testing businesses assign, because they're based on groups of people who are living right now, not people that were living at the time your ancestors were here. Mine is 55% "European West" and 25% Ireland, 9% Finland/NW Russia and only 5% Great Britain. European West is Belgium, Netherlands, French, Germany, etc. OTOH you might want to read this: http://www.legalgenealogist.com/2017/04 ... -not-soup/ OH, and when you get your Ancestry results, you can download them and then upload to a site called GedMatch, where you can do other ethnic manipulation.

helia, are you prepared if a genetic match contacts you?

List for right now:
-start a lol
-make the bed, brush teeth, wash up and get out of pajamas
-fill meds containers
-call dh and ck on him - supposed to call plumber, and supposed to call "The Guy" about sprinkler system, which is not operating at this time, and is leaking.
-try to decide what to do re: tax return and dd as a dependent

Got sidetracked by a phone call from a member of the Jewish comm asking if I would join the local archives committee. I said yes, with a reservation that my focus is to be on writing for the portfolio. I sent him some info, he's interested in genealogy also.

Need to circle back to the tax return. Can you tell I don't want to mess with it? I'm afraid I'll waste all day avoiding it!

Actually I still have some folding from laundry.
One of the DPCs means I have Fri appt for at-home windshield replacement

Dd37 and family will be visiting the last weekend of the month.

Our household is also into ancestry .com type stuff, but it's HRH not me, even for my late dh's family. He calls me to the computer at least once a day, though, to talk through things.

Fishy life is good, btw. Fishy is in the midst of dramatic shift to his "true colors", as dd has been working toward. This results from health and hope - it's like maturing, but won't happen for sick or depressed Bettas. The colors he should have been in the store, possibly, but was too stressed or weak. He was so beige/clear then you could see his innards. She'll name him when she's sure he's finished changing.

His face has turned more peachy beige with black mustache, but his body has turned black, with darker/lighter vertical black stripes that you can't see unless you are close. Fins have stayed irridescent but darker in line with darkest black body stripes where they touch the body. This is a fancy look, to which girl Fishies would be attracted, say the experts. He does seem to interact with dd - also with the food jar. He's all about the food, and popping out from hiding, somersaults, bubbles.

Glad the betta is recovering, Harriet. We had one for several years in a vase with a Peace Lily. I know he probably didn't get fed as often as was ideal, and the vase didn't get cleaned as often as optimal, but he persevered.

Found a reason not to work on tax return right now, and a plan for dealing with dd's return and claiming her as a dependent. I am going to file an amended return for her. I will extend our return and file ours once her amended return has been processed - otherwise the return will get flagged for taking her as dependent when she had done the same. And the reason not to work on the tax return is that yesterday dh gave me some additional contributions from credit card statements, and one of them is not included on the statement this organization sent us. I couldn't get them on the phone, but left a message, and scanned and emailed the info so she will have it. (I didn't tell her I would probably extend our return tho.)

So now I can plan on some genealogy things. Dh hasn't responded re: plumber and sprinkler but I guess it's not time critical. He always wants to use someone in his networking group that he calls...

Progressing fairly well.

Time to move on to the bedroom and getting the fresh sheets on.

The cake is frosted, the other desserts ready to go, the table set and empty dishes labeled, the corn bread made, the stuff recipe ingredients ready to go (that's a last minute item) and all the dirty dishes are washed up. I've got the appetizer trays and items out, ready to assemble.

Next to-do for dinner is cutting up the veggies for the appetizers as well as to cook. But I'm going to do the bedroom first.

I've been working flat out for hours and only have 4100 steps to show for all my work.

Oh, that's cool, Twins. Maybe I can get more specific info then. I'll definitely be here asking for advice when my results are up. Dh and the kids are a bit interested in my medical info, and I think it is possible to get some of that too. A genetic match? What? Ack!! Good question.. . . . No, I'm not ready if there's a match. In fact, I'm very much hoping to be anonymous and that there is no genetic match. In fact, I very well might choose not to make my results public, if that's a choice. I think it is?

WTG Kathryn! I take it you're hosting the dinner? You seem to have things in hand and don't seem stressed at all!

Glad your beta is gaining health and hope, Harriet! You're whacking down your list well.
Hi blessed! Hi Nancy and LadyM too!
Sorry about the insurance quandaries, Dee. Now you're making me wonder what insurance my parents have. My mother was very happy with the care she received and is continuing to receive during and after her heart attack.

Main Goals for Today:
X 1. Jog 3.5 miles; this is my relaxing run of the week
/2. Make and Bring a meal to friend in a town about 20 miles away -- pork is cooked; foil containers obtained; watermelon washed and has been in the fridge for a while; printed out info re: where the meal is going. 24 miles away.
X 3. Get Cashier's Check and put it in the mail for dd18's new apt. in Brooklyn. FedEx if she doesn't have to sign for it.

Next:
- make a salad
- cut up the watermelon; is it good? If not, I won't bring it
- mix up the bbq pork
- package up everything
- make sure I have info I need
- stop by WF for some potato salad?
- drive 24 miles to drop off the meal
- drive home
- get the same meal ready for dh and me.
