Good Morning!

I hope you can all summon up the energy and optimism to have a magnificent day!

And if you have any energy and optimism to spare, please share it here with the SHEs who need a bit extra to get through the day.

I slept in my recliner (the one attached to my couch) last night. Had a couple of longer runs of sleep - 1:30ish to 4 and 4:30 to 6, plus the same shorter sleeps of previous nights. I don't think my cough was much better. It goes away right after hot water/lemon/honey but only for about 20 minutes. Enough to fall asleep but not to stay asleep.

I thought about getting more in the middle of the night but didn't bother to fuss with that and fell asleep again.

It is no longer a dry cough so there's progress.

I recall reading somewhere that colds last 10 - 14 days on average and not much less if you dose with everything but they aren't as irritating or debilitating. I'm only starting day 5 today so this will likely bug me all week. Sigh...

Dh came and fetched me at 6 when he heard my radio on. So I had more honey and lemon and sat up in bed and dozed listening to the news for an hour with him and then an hour on my own.

The bed is stripped now and the sheets in the washer. I've opened up the windows to let in fresh air but will shut them in about 30 minutes and turn up the a/c. It is hot already. Mainly humid. Everything is quieter, not sure if that's because people are moving more slowly or if the sound doesn't carry as well in the humidity.

I still have to s2s and put fresh sheets on the bed but for now I'm just having my tea. I watered the plants on the balcony while the tea steeped.

It sort of sounds like I have energy but I don't. I'm just putting one foot in front of the other. Thinking especially of Rosie and Lucylee as they do the same with elder care.

hi d kathryn I am so sorry this cold of yours is sticking to you!!! Hope it leaves fast!

Hi All :D

Hope you have a great day!

I read a quote this morning that I liked: "I can; I will"

I am planning to have faith in my abilities even though allergies are feeding into my ADHD/OCD brain. :D

Today d mom has a 2 hour dentist appointment that is about an hour away. I will bring my study books.

Today is the closing of very d mil's house that dh has to go to.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Thinking of all of you who need good thoughts, prayers, etc. Feel better, Kathryn. Thinking of RR and LucyLee. Oh my goodness! You guys have been through the mill. Hoping for both your dMoms to get better fast. So glad you decided to stay home, LucyLee!

I'm slow moving myself this morning. Just finishing up my breakfast and coffee. Then it's on to s2s -usually do that first. Then have to see if I can find dh's list of meds for his Dr. visit today (sees the gastroenterologist today). I had thought they were doing an endoscopy today but evidently not. Dr. told me every 2 years and it's been all of that. BUT, that being said it may be scheduled at today's visit. He sees his cardiologist tomorrow and I see my retina specialist at least 50 miles apart. Then I see my Primary Dr. on Wednesday. Have a 'laundry list' of doctor visits between the 2 of us. His knee replacement is 4 weeks from tomorrow -not soon enough says I.

Dh is up sorting cans/bottles. Says he's gotten quite behind. There's always 'fires' to be put out -even on his days off. Like yesterday when someone in one of the weekender sites completely broke off a water line. I had just started water for dishes and wondered why there was no pressure. Better than dneighbor -he was in the shower. Said he had to spit to rinse off. Dh just happened to know where the shut off was (it's buried). Campers marveled that he knew that. Unfortunately not too many do know. He's tried to jot down those kinds of things so subsequent workers will have that info.

How's your Mom today, LucyL? Have a feeling she's going to be so much better once she heals than she's been in some time. Could this all be the underlying problem she's had?

DD called just a bit ago. She was supposed to meet her old college friend at 9 -they're going to the Adirondacks till Friday. She went to a lacrosse tournament yesterday with DS-R and family. She put on SPF 50 but woke up this morning with her eyes swollen shut, etc, etc. She's better now but there's no doubt she had some sun poisoning. Said she tried to be in the shade as much as possible.

Okay....off I go to get s2s and get this morning's "have to's" done.

good morning d dee! I will be thinking of you on your laundry list of dr. appointments. hope this week is great for you and I am happy his knee surgery is coming soon so that he can get relief again. So frustrating that the water line broke. ((( your dd))))

dishes are washing themselves, things put away in kitchen and family room, some laundry folded. its supposed to be 95 here today and humid. dd younger as at work already and I reminded her, as I tend to do, to use sunscreen. She ends work at 12:30 so she won't be in the afternoon sun. She's teaching little ones today.

comfort zone challenge: I wanted to go for a walk in town today by myself but it's going to be hot. I had put my gym membership on hold for the summer to save a bit of money but I can see I will need to start it up again for these hot days.

I think I am going to make a get of the comfort zone l*ist for this summers challenge.
I know what I love to do, but having no concept of time the things I want to do during the summer doesn't get done because I don't make a plan of attack.
So that will be a focus.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Focus on that 'plan of attack', dBlessed!

I'm finally s2s. Found dh's med list for the Dr. visit today. I was afraid I hadn't printed it out in FL but had saved it to do once I was up here. That would not work as I'm still waiting for the printer ink to arrive. Have to put that on my list of things to pack going and coming since both printers are the same and I don't want to leave any here to freeze. Amazing, I'm already thinking of what needs to be done for the end of the year here. Of course I'll only be here for 4 - 4 1/2 months. First up will be to decide what we're doing regarding health insurance for next year. Hopefully I'll still be here when materials arrive in October. Thinking that "perhaps" dh and I will be driving down together around the 1st of November -depending on when his shoulder replacement surgery takes place. He is truly going to be a bionic man!

It's already getting quite warm in here. Hate to turn on the AC but it may have to be. Wanted to wait until we returned from dh's dr. visit if I can. But like Kathryn, it's getting pretty warm here. Was nice when I first got up.

Talk about breaking down tasks. The bottom sheet is on the bed. Still need to put the duvet covers and pillow cases on.

One bite at a time.

I've shut all the windows and turned up the a/c. Have discovered 2 of the radiators don't work except on high fan (our radiators are connected to a thermostat and when it asks for heat/cool, the fan comes on at the speed each radiator is set to (off/low/med/hi). In the summer, super chilled water is run through the radiators and the fan blows air over the chilled pipes into the rooms. It works surprisingly well. So well, that having them on anything other than low is overkill most of the time.

In the winter, "off" works fine as the pipes radiate heat into the rooms, combined with the heat from other units. In the summer, "off" means the apartment is a degree or 2 cooler than outside but since it is 90 outside right now (feeling like 105) that degree isn't making enough of a difference. On the other hand, having the radiator fans on full is noisy and certainly too noisy to sleep with. Low on the non-sun side and medium on the sun side would be enough, but instead it is on high in the kitchen and bedroom. Oh well, I'll put in a repair order another day. Today, I'm not yet dressed so don't want to risk being disturbed.

Dh is at a movie now. I was too sick to go with him, would have worried about coughing all the way through it. Too bad, it was one I really, really, wanted to see. Now I have to hope for it to show up on Netflix (which basically means it won't, no movie I wanted to see has ever been picked up by Netflix.)

Ok, enough down time, I'll put the sheets in the dryer and then go back to trying to make the bed, one item at a time.

I was thinking the same thing d kathryn about taking one bite at a time. Any time I accomplished anything was by taking small bits of time and continuing and before I knew it the job would be done. hope your place is nice and cool!

hi d nancy. glad you accomplished so much

hi d dee... I am going to have to focus on a plan of attack. I tend to be a person who can only focus on one thing at a time or I loose focus. I think I have to figure out the balance and not getting confused with too many directions. Its 87 here already and its only 10:09 so I am sure it will not be a cool day. I was supposed to finish the pool today but I can't do that. Maybe vacuum out the pump - go inside then do filter.

My one cat has been meowing all morning - I have no idea why. I just checked on her this time and she was upset the dogs were outside for a few minutes and wanted to be outside with them.

I am heading out soon for d mom's far away dr. appointment - dd older and her went out yesterday and had a great time. (very grateful)
