Hi everyone! I made some fairly significant changes to a report, then discovered it was not the right one! I had already made the changes to the appropriate report months ago and never marked off the list. Due to some naming confusion (displayed name vs file name), I thought it hadn't been done. I have reverted those changes and am working on some issues I found in the other report. It never ends. Or to put it more positively - job security.

Last night, I balanced my checkbook. I will owe about $1000 on my foot surgery, which totally stinks. The hospital had me listed as PPO rather than HMO, so I corrected that, but it didn't make one penny difference. I also picked up the cat, who is now on a different special diet than the rest of them. The cat coordinator wanted to keep her out of the hands of some potential adopters and invented a crisis. I'm very annoyed, because it was an older lady with no other pets, just like the house she came from. Yes, the family does not have buckets of cash, but their previous cat was on a special diet and they managed to get him veterinary treatment just before he died. (Unfortunately, he did not make it, but it was not anything they did or didn't do). I handled several emails, ordered some graduation gifts (why does it cost $7.50 to send a $20 gift card?), and wrote a real letter to send with the cruise documents. I did not get the minutes and notes done and since the meeting is tomorrow, that is my WTF tonight. Unfortunately, it is also curriculum night at DD15's new school. Late night for me I guess.

I'm debating on cancelling my foot doctor appointment. I am doing much better and don't need to spend another $45. I need to take a long walk to find out how it does. Not sure when due to my horrible week's schedule.

RamblinRose is definitely correct in calling it a washing machine. A clothes washer could not handle towels, sheets, and cat beds.

What? Not all places are as obsessed with football as we are in Alabama? Here are the first three questions a kid asks a new kid: what's your name, how old are you, and who are you for. The latter is expected to be answered Auburn (yeah!) or Alabama (boo!). We did not know what to make of Pam who said "University of Pennsylvania". War Eagle was probably my third or fourth word. (My first was alcoholic - gotta watch what you say around babies).

ETA: Just got the shipping notification for the gift certificate. It is expensive because they shipped it FedEx. I would have chosen a much cheaper option if given a choice. What is wrong with good old USPS?

Changed my shoes and have moved onto the treadmill. I need lots of steps to make up for this morning which was spent on the computer. I kept doing "one more thing" so had a late lunch but didn't want to eat until I was truly hungry so ignored the clock.

I'm only 1/3 through the remaining months of credit card reconciliation but slow and steady is getting me there.

I made an omelette and added store-bought salad to that for my lunch. It has been a while since I've put in ham and I forgot how good it tasted. Today the goal was to add easy protein and I have 2 oz packages in the freezer waiting for days like today. So my carbs and protein are now balanced where they should be for the day. Dinner is a mystery at the moment due to dh's mouth.

He's back from the dentist and in bed napping since he's frozen up the wazoo and I knew his mouth couldn't wake him up.

The bridge has been cut out leaving the metal fastener on the front tooth and the disintegrating back tooth. The crown that normally sits in between has been removed. The back tooth has a temporary filling that should stop the pain from food getting into the cavity. Now we await the appointment with the dental surgeon. Our dentist thinks it will only be one implant and a rebuild of the back tooth. In 9 months that back tooth has gone from fine to disintegrating so I wonder if there shouldn't be 2 implants so that all the suffering is done at once. She did say that the temporary filling will be replaced during the surgery so if the tooth is 'saved' it will be done without dh being aware.

Since he only has 2 molars on the bottom (but three on the top, unlike me who just has 2 up and down) he really doesn't have a proper molar to chew with now on the bottom so I'm trying to think of soft foods for the next bit while he gets used to chewing on the other side.

People are really obsessed with football here too!! I think it's a universal thing. One of our pastors is a Buckeye fan, and he'll tout his allegiance up front at church if the Buckeyes defeat the Wolverines, which seems to happen every year. LOL! Our family goes against the flow in not being obsessed. Part of that might be the fact that dh is European and didn't grow up with Am. football. Also, he's not very sports-minded, and my parents were/are not sports-minded either. Neither one of us grew up with that tradition or mindset. We do know other faculty here who aren't obsessed, so we know we're not alone! I do like the community and traditions described by RRose. That does sound nice. Though, sitting in an outdoor stadium in Michigan in November does not sound nice to me.

Our family does have our significant communities and strong family traditions. They just don't center on sports. :)

I am NOT having a productive day. My a.m. routine is just about done. And that's it. I'm going to grade tests next. It will be good to have that done before tonight when I'll be tired.

I went down something of a rabbit hole, then regrouped - since I was doing genealogy work I went ahead and finished the citation assignment for Pro Gen. I had done the easiest ones already, so reviewed those, and completed the more difficult ones. I don't know if it was a red herring - I found that the marriage bond to be cited wasn't in book 3 as was provided to us, it was in book 4. Do I get extra credit I wonder? i still need to do the "Time Management" segment. Since I'll be away at a genealogy institute July 23-28 and need to turn work in on the 25th, I need to get it done this week or next.

I need to get off my bottom. We invited friend M for dinner tonight.
-brush teeth, floss (never did that.... )
-start a list for tomorrow
-reboot laundry
-verify ingredients for eggplant parm and salad
-make the bed

Helia, obviously I haven't finished a.m. routine.

Hi everyone!! Two skippable rants coming up...

Right now I'm not too happy with milk bags. On Saturday night I took a bag out of the freezer and laid it on it's side in the fridge to defrost. Woke up Sunday morning and there is cream and/or milk from the bag all over the interior of the fridge. We have solid glass shelves, so lots of fun. No crying, but there was some muttering. I put the bag, which looked like it had been snipped open on one corner like it was ready to go into the jug, on the dish rack. Wiped up all of the mess and forgot about the milk on the dish rack. Came home from that Norwex party three hours later and now there is milk all over the counter because it had fallen over. MORE MESS!! Grrr!! More extremely loud and nasty remarks as I clean up that mess. Dh was in the back yard while I was dealing with that mess by the way. Conversation when he came in the house has him proclaiming that he did NOT open the bag, nor did he see the mess in the fridge or on the counter. Upon further "STUPID MILK BAG" investigation, it appears that the bag became torn at some point exactly on a corner where it may have gotten snipped at some time in it's future life. Right now, there is a very nearly empty bag resting in a bowl that needs to go into the jug.

Dh had an appointment with a doctor this morning. Turns out it was not for a certain check up of a certain area of the body that he did not want to have examined, but a Diabetes Specialist. Dh didn't like her, nor did he like her suggestion to decrease his carb intake as much as possible, as soon as possible. He has tried it before and failed, and he doesn't really want to try it again. Guess what! There will no longer be more pasta cooked than will be eaten for that meal. No more bowls full of spaghetti in the fridge waiting to be eaten the next night. No more leftovers of anything like potatoes or pasta and only enough bread to make 1 1/2 sandwiches, not 2, 3 or more. Yes, yes, yes. I am to blame. I cook for him and I do cook far too much. He is willing to have carrot sticks and celery for snacks instead of Doritos. He is willing to have a wrap for any sandwich type of meal. I will ask for the bread to be sliced thinner when I go to the bakery the next time.

Am I ranting? I don't know.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Paper never stops.

LOL! You're making me feel better, Twins.
((CathyS)) I don't know if you're ranting or not but we all need to just share gunk in our lives sometimes. This is a good place to vent. Our family had wondered how sturdy milk bags were. . .

Grading is taking longer than I'd expected, but I'm off to torture. . er, yoga. . .class now.

Cathy said:
Yes, yes, yes. I am to blame.
You are not to blame for your dh's eating habits. You can purchase and cook healthy meals and food, but it is his responsibility.

Kathryn, I'm glad that dh had the dental work started to get his pain level down. What a nightmare.

This time:
-write a ck for the genealogy institute in Jan and get it ready to mail
-fold two lol and put away
-get rid of 10 pieces of paper on desk
-start scanning another pension file
-start on eggplant parm

Speaking of eating too much, I thought I had enough space for the hashbrowns dh is cooking but I don't. I'll have an ounce of them and hope I can argue the two bites are more than enough. As dh says, most times two bites are all we need - first taste and last taste.

Dinner's ready, I've got to go!

Have CUOP through last night - wish it could be more. Soon.

((Ken in Canada))

Harmony, I know you will feel better about tummy/digestion concerns with the fiber. Best wishes.
going to the soda bottle is not diet worthy.

Oooooooo, great quote there! diet in the sense of either a current eating plan OR generally

Nancy, when does the little boy go to the ear dr this week? A milestone for him.

Lynlee, yes, I'm a graduate now. Kind of a let-down but because the various professors are so well-published, I now have plenty of ideas for more to read and also lectures I can find online, so I'm content! I need to get busy and frame the certificate.

Today went by printer and had the graduate logo printed in color in several sizes to ponder. Don't need a business card as some do, but lots of other suggestions from admin and fellow students for this. A keychain fob is interesting to me, and of course as soon as someone said, "bookmark" I was wide-eyed and all over that idea! The lady there was talking to dd18 and telling her she knew she was taking education for granted at this time in her life, but to appreciate it please. So hard later in working life, etc., to take a course.

Other errands today were bank and phone store.
Dd has switched from I-phone to Galaxy 8. She's pleased so far. Because the salesperson cautioned that the newer phones are even more susceptible to damage from falls, etc., she bought an Otter Box Sym metry Clear case. I insisted on the clear one so she can insert her own art and change it around when she'd like. Don't want her getting bored and going to any other kind of less protective one just because they are cheap and artsy or whatever. She can make her own artsy, lol, on an inserted paper and keep phone safe.
