Sunday, Steady as She Goes

Postby Harriet » Sun Aug 20, 2017 7:17 am

Steady as She Goes is a nautical phrase that's like saying, "keep on keeping on" to the one at the helm, with the "she" being some watercraft.

But for us it may mean staying on course, being steadfast or sturdy, knowing what we're doing and doing it. Paying little attention to distracting things because, after all, we've got this.

How will you keep steady as you go today?

Happy Birthday Bittersweet!!

I'll be keeping with my Sunday schedule as much as possible. I never expect it to go exactly as planned but am pleased when it hits about 80%.

I had a good night sleep with both DKids sleeping the whole night through. Sweet!

I'm seeing a faint start of first light so I'm out the door. *POOF*

Good for you, LadyM. I'm not as productive this morning. Not going to church. Just not feeling up to 'snuff''. Dh has decided to go to the country fair in our town in that case to watch the tractor pulls.

Guess DS-R was called out at 2:30am to go with dcampmanager as security. Not sure just what was going on. But since DS hasn't been here all that much on weekends this summer these people didn't really know who he was -a good thing. Dcampmgr just didn't feel safe going alone. Unfortunately when some get to drinking all sorts of things can happens. If it was the same people who dh went with our dfriend to calm a situation Wednesday night -know for sure they won't be invited back for next year. They're in jeopardy anyway. Since we're gated they can turn off anyone's card so they can't gain access.

Think my 'project' today will be at least one of the double cupboards in the front of our RV. Want to get it so I can use those shelves for office files, etc.

Thanks for reminding me to look at Members Only, LadyM. Happy Birthday, Bittersweet. Know we're thinking of you if you should stop by.

There was some storm last night. Actually 3 or 4 of them including a lightning strike that made dh jump in the bed.

Branches down all over, flooding in areas, power out in parts of town. Parts of the clubhouse leaked last night so there are towels down where the water poured in. The breakfast lady is house-sitting and the fire department woke her up in the night to say a fire had been reported where she was. It hadn't but someone saw something and called it in.

Weather is looking worse and worse for tomorrow. Apparently a 5 - 6 hour drive. We've just texted ds to tell him he's free to move to a better location without us. Haven't heard back.

I thought of him sleeping in his car in that storm last night. I was worried in a building so it must have been awful in the car. To start with, windows might have to be shut so little air and it is very hot here.

We are off to Beatrice after I do the rest of my internet work.

Oh after all your planning, do so hope for good weather tomorrow, dKathryn.

I'm playing non-church goer this morning. I've been plucking along the front cupboards. Have 2 completed. I surely do have lots of files to go through. Have to look in the storage unit to see if we have a file box up there. I almost think we do. Hate to buy new if we already have it. Right now we can't get back there though. I would like to take an afternoon and take all our files to the upper laundry room. There's a nice long counter there and a plug (ours down here doesn't have a plug). That way I could take the shredder with me and a few trash bags. I'll do this after there's not so many people around and likely to use that room.

Hi everyone!

First load of laundry is in the washing machine.

We did NOT go to the Italian festival at a local winery today because when we got there we were told to park on the road. Dh wasn't going to park his 2017 F150 along the side of a very busy road with all kinds of large vehicles passing by and people walking past with kids and strollers, etc... so we came back home and had salami sandwiches.

Home from church and had a short nap. DNephew & son are here. His son is 10 years old so DS9 is thrilled to have him here. DNephew and DH are discussing trailers, generators and welding equipment. I'm totally okay with being out of that discussion. :) DH is giving DNephew a welding trailer. DH upgraded to a bigger/better one so his previous trailer is sitting unused.

I spent about 15 minutes planning the week using paper BuJo. The weekly page is almost discouraging because it shows how many free time slots I have available this week....very few. I don't expect things to go perfectly so I know those few free time slots will most likely be OBE. On the other hand, information is power. It lets me know that I have to stay on schedule this week because there are few options.

Planning the week also shows me that I am eating out 4 times this week (at least). It is extra challenging for me to eat out without gaining weight. I can do it once or twice a week, but 4 times? Hum..... I'll have to be extra vigilant to continue making good food choices. Yesterday I ate Subway 6" chicken breast sub and had them add all the vegetables. When we ate out at noon today, I ordered grilled pork chop, side salad and a double order of green beans. If I make good choices like that each time I should be okay. Hopefully. Maybe. Even when I make good food choices it seems I still gain weight when I eat out. That doesn't make sense to me.

I had a full day of genealogy yesterday. I did a fair amount of research, and then late in the afternoon started on my "locality guide" for our local county research. I'm getting through the assignment tho. I need to turn it on on Friday and we're leaving for a western vacation on Sat a.m.

Someone mentioned helia yesterday, I checked her on Facebook and she hadn't posted much there either, so she may be just busy.

Today dh and I are going out on the lake with friends who have a boat. Not sure quite what to expect - she has a broken arm for which she had surgery, so swimming is out. It sounds like a boat ride with lunch somewhere out. Wearing shorts, t shirt, tevas and taking hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Hope that covers it.

Later I need to get to the grocery and get some stuff for snacks for tomorrow, also fill up the gas tank. I think it's now dd, ds and a friend of dd's going with me? Maybe dfriend M will go also?

-------------------------------------------

And I didn't get the posted earlier. We are home from the lake - beautiful day, boat ride around the lake, brunch at a restaurant overlooking a marina.

Second load is in the dryer, with the last load in the washer.

Dh told me earlier that it's so hot that he would prefer to take me out to supper. He suggested the casino. It's almost 90 degrees here.
