I wanna go with Twins to Wy.
As long as it is in the middle of nowhere AND has internet. Wondering Where oh Where are K&K?
Cathys - CONGRATULATIONS!!!
we've been adventure-eating again
Harriet - I've never heard of those! Interesting. I am trying some new-to-me grains this week. I recently googled what the best grains were (nutritiously). Amaranth and hull-less barley kept showing up in the answers. I've never eaten either of them so asked A-river to send me some. I prepared the barley yesterday and am absolutely impressed by texture. It is chewier than rice. I added the barley to soup and am enjoying it. I haven't tried the Amaranth yet. Some say to pop it (like popcorn) and others say to cook it like rice. I'll give both way a try when I get caught up with my bulk cooking.
I have been laughing at myself how hard I try to get out of shopping for clothes. Yesterday I put clothes shopping on today's schedule but my brain totally blocked it out. I didn't remember until DH said something about it this morning. Uggghhh....Okay. So I went to town and two hours later I realized I had been doing all kinds of things EXCEPT shopping for clothes. I honestly totally blocked clothes shopping from my thoughts. Once I recognized what I was doing, I made myself STOP doing other things and go buy some clothes. It only took me about 10 minutes to pick out 5 types of pants. I am the least picky person on the face of the earth and have no interest in fashion. At this point, I just want the clothes to cover me and to not fall down! Girls are supposed to like to go clothes shopping. Most of my family & girl friends LOVE to shop. I might be in danger of losing my "girl card". ANYway......I now have a couple pair of jeans, shorts, capris, and a skort to wear. I argued with myself with the size to buy. I can wear size 8 but they were tight. So I got size 10's. I plan on losing another 20 lbs so probably should have got the smaller size but I just couldn't wrap my mind around wearing that size. I still think of myself as a size 12/14.
The rain has been CRAZY hard this morning. During the 4 hours I was in town it rained 6". Driving on the interstate was a challenge. Traffic was going 20-30mph under the speed limit because of how hard it was raining and the amount of water on the road. Driving in town was worse because the water was several inches deep on the road and the vehicles in lanes on either side of me were splashing water higher than the cars. Wind shield wipers on the highest settings and still could barely see. I bought over $500 of groceries and had to load/unload them all in the downpour. I got soaked.
Wouldn't it be awesome if fat melted in the rain.......day dreaming......I stopped on the way home from town and dropped off a few things I bought for DMom. I try to keep her stocked up with the more expensive items that she uses. I know she watches/stretches every penny she has.
I came across sales on meat this morning. I try to buy pork under $2 a lb. Beef under $3 a lb. Chicken breast under $2 a lb. Whole Rotisserie Chicken under $5 each. And I found them ALL on sale in my price range today, I'm CRAZY INSANE focused on getting the bulk cooking done,
1. Know what you want.
2. Go after it relentlessly.
