Bed is made. Bedroom is almost 100% clean.
Living room is clean and tidy.
Kitchen is almost acceptable. Island is clear except for the jelly in the jars that didn't work last weekend. I need to recook, which means I have to re do the jars. There are some dishes in the sink.

I have vacuumed almost everywhere except in here.

I have dusted almost everywhere. Just need to dust dh's bedside table.

Bathroom is as clean and tidy as I can get it without a blowtorch. Cat box was washed out thoroughly before new litter was put in.

I even took down the fly strip. It really is awful that we need them, but we need them in this house.

I am dressed all the way to slippers.

Dh has gone to pick up the birthday cake. White chocolate raspberry with white cake inside. He hates chocolate and there was no carrot cake.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Paper never stops.

lol My mom and I were talking... I was born on my due date - that's the only time I have ever been that focused on anything.
I used to be late all the time but I no longer do that as it is rude to others but I thought it was hysterical that I was born on my due date.
:D

so far counters cleaned, listening to audible (they have sidetracked home executives on there), I noticed a collection of fruit flies beginning to collect on the farm fresh pears and apples so I washed and dried them all and separately put them in paper bags - and marked them. sink cleaned, dishwasher emptied.

dh and I agreed to redo our living room (our decorating is 20 years old and the furniture is falling apart ;) ) dd older loved the old (current) front room and said that what we planned might be tacky. She is used to being around wealthy clients and their decorating; she has picked up a lot of style from them but dh and I want a warmer not so fancy look. dd younger used to call it the pretty room but our furniture has gone through children, babysitting children, dogs and cats (awful shedders) and clawers. dh would like to have french doors on the living room so the animals can't go in it. - not sure what to do - leave it or change it. mmmm not changing would be cheaper because the curtains can stay the same but...

I've been to grocery and made a dark chocolate mousse for dessert. It's not sweet - has dark chocolate, heavy cream, egg whites and sea salt. I'm relax for a few minutes. I need to start challah soon, too.

Just between us, I'm feeling a little resentful about being so busy today but whatever, I guess. DH is willing to help, he just doesn't do things like I would.

-kitchen clean up
-start challah
-set table
-fold load of laundry and put away
-make the bed

Home. Successful afternoon errands.

High chair acquired. I'll need it if I'm seating 16 for dinner next weekend. I'm still 4 chairs short but at least the baby well be self contained and will not have to be at the table.

Dh is on the phone. Our plan was to walk up to the hospital, I still need 9K steps for the day, to visit NFD but when we called to get a room number he wasn't listed. Dh has finally got someone from the committee to find out what's up.

Edited to add: he's been discharged. So now we are debating going to the house to visit. Dh is texting them.

High chair is assembled. The reviewers weren't kidding, the tray is next-to-impossible to remove. Thankfully, someone 'hacked' it by literally hacking off the tabs that connect it since they aren't needed for any reason.

Without the tray it fits nicely under the table where there is a leaf in. Without the tray, it fits (sort-of) in the corner of the kitchen where I pictured it being stored, although since the legs just pop out, I think I might keep it in the storage cupboard disassembled unless dgs is coming over regularly.

We'll visit NFD after 7 so it is time to start dinner now.

W (our next refugee) is texting with dh write now. He must arrive in Canada by November 15. He can't get his visa until he has his tickets, he can't get his tickets until he's paid, he won't be paid until the last day of work. So there are a number of catch-22s here. Credit cards are not halal. I'm pretty sure we are not allowed to cover the cost of the tickets although I expect I'll get a request to do so from the other group we are working with.

Friends came over and stayed quite a while. She loves, loves, loves to talk. Her dh, my dh and I just listen. She's a lovely woman, but she talks. A. Lot.

Dh and I went out for supper because there was no way we could have made something and gotten it on the table in less time than dh's favourite diner. He wanted a big, greasy cheeseburger and fries. That's what he got and he ate everything on his plate.

I had a stressful day, but reading from you all here makes it better.

Happy Big One Oh, guys!

The attack for Kathryn's NFD has been on my mind.

Sorry about bs disruption, Nancy. Happy for wheels.

This has been a super stressful day. There were points through morning at which I didn't think I could handle one more thing. I cut it close so often on time - complicated, seconds to spare, multi-tasking and barely managing. MADE time to talk about widowhood with dcousin after S's death. He's doing well, but sometimes the tears surprise him (so he's perfectly normal).

8 people at one time were in the sets of company here this afternoon. Home folks some, but 3 were new to us, unannounced and stressful. Then after all had said goodbye and HRH and I had settled into believing we could sit without being hosts for a minute, a knock at the door and a location specialist for a commercial was letting us know people would be parking all along our road for 2 days. Good grief. Of course, I brightened, was "on" for him, welcoming, interested - and then wanted to collapse.

For tomorrow, I need to remember to pay our bills, to send one payroll check for church, to make it to a meeting by 10:00.
Hopefully a phone call will come in, too. And I simply must get some more time in on my teaching prep for Tues. Planning for trip Thurs will start being important.

Good quote about going to bed early that I read... ... but I'm sleepy and will tell you tomorrozzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
