Monday Apron Attitude

Postby Harriet » Mon Oct 16, 2017 8:16 am

An apron (or an Apron Attitude while needing to wear garden clothes or business clothes) puts a spring in my step and begins a quicker pace toward a completed task.

Harmony once said an apron is our super outfit.

For what project do you need an Apron Attitude today?

today is my out of the house day. I have to take d mom (hope she is happy d mom today as yesterday evening - :D) to the far away dentist. If I am going out of the house; I might as well make the day productive. :D

I wish you all a wonderful day.

I am gong to do my dailies before leaving at 9:30

I didn't really decorate while caring for my uncle and being part of the family team to care for d mil for the last couple years; as well as dd younger support. Yesterday both dd's and dh were thrilled to see the house looking homey (like when they were younger - lol when all of us were younger) with the Halloween decorations. (I did more of a fall decorating with touches of cute Halloween - not scary)

Blessed when I leave the house and want to feel efficient I put on a blazer. It is my 'outside the home' equivalent to an apron.

That said, I'm expecting more of a Monday Duvet Attitude.

As the song says, "Oh, what a night!"

First, my bad, lights were out at midnight.

Then I was up two times. The second time I could hear what sounded like voices over a two-way radio but could not see any vehicle out of place.

Last time I saw a clock it was 1:05. At that point my feet and ankles were on fire with aching but I didn't take anything because I'm trying to stay off ibuprofen.

At 2:06 the fire alarm goes off. I just turn to dh and say "I'm not going." I don't have to, in fact, they keep arguing they prefer we don't leave our units because it is the smoke that kills. Dh got antsy so we got up and I eventually pulled on a few clothes so I could go outside onto the balcony. The fire trucks were here fast (I could see them coming when I got out of bed after 2 - 4 minutes, sometimes they take 10.) We waited. The alarm went for over 30 minutes but finally went off. About 10 minutes later the super from the other building gave the all clear. He has little English so that was amusing but efficient. The main thing is there was no fire.

I finally turned out the light just after 3.

Dh turned the radio on at 6:30.

I didn't get out of bed until 8:30 but I haven't had my eyes closed since about 7.

I'm worn out.

Don't know what was up last night. Do I have too much on my mind (trying to imagine how our refugees will live in such a tiny apartment?) or was it the pain that took an hour for me to recognize? Was it the smell of the chicken soup stock I had in the crockpot (smells distract me and I'm often woken by smells.) Was it too much caffeine? I had decaf tea in the evening, but had tea at dd's at 3:30, so that shouldn't be it.

Dh is off to a movie this morning so that's why he didn't sleep in.

Anyway the day has begun.

So far, I've made my tea and put away the paper towels from Costco. The toilet paper is going back since what I thought was dh's toilet paper from WM in the US, is actually 18 more rolls of mine. There wasn't really room for the paper towels, let alone more 30 rolls of toilet paper. In fact, those will have to see-saw - I can store a full toilet paper plus half a paper towels or vice versa but I can't manage a new package of both at the same time. As opposed to R who won't even have room for 1 roll of paper towel in the kitchen, let alone store another. (It is actually called a kitchenette. They recognized it isn't for cooking full meals. Unfortunately, someone living at the poverty line should be cooking their meals to save money.)

I will have to close the blinds in the bedroom when I go to shower because it is after 8 so the workers could be driving by on the window fixing stage.

I think I'll pull up my SHE "cards" and put on my countdown timer watch. But later, once the tea has kicked in.

my out of house card is out

so far kitchen dailies done:
vacuumed and swiffer dusted and swiffer rinsed
counters wiped
sink shiny for two seconds I am sure
stove wiped again
manage kitchen clutter

laundry room,
vacuum floor (more of a swipe)
used swiffer duster and swiffer rinser (slip shod)
laundry flipped (do I want to do it NOOOOO but I did it grumpily)

hoping to get a bit more done before I have to go
heading out at 9:20

I thought this was cute: years ago I made a pretend camp fire out in front (wood etc) with a plastic cauldron hanging by three 4 foot branches (3" wide) lashed together over the fake fire - I had put orange mini lights in-between the wood pile and it looked fire-y. This year I didn't want to do a big fuss out side but I put my antique iron pot in the fireplace and put the pile of orange mini lights inside it and plugged it in. Dh and dd's loved it and I must say I liked it too.

I have to get dressed in ten minutes so tootle-loo (or Too-ra-loo) - what ever is your favour.
have a wonderful day everyone

Kathryn, I'm thinking of your (as Lynlee calls it) BBR. If it was only your late start to bed and first interruptions that happened, you might not be remembering the night as such a huge factor today. But, then an ALARM went off! (for 30 minutes) Fire trucks, etc. That's adrenaline added. How could this be in your control. It's like saying, "well, I was going to be sure to get to sleep, but the bed turned upside-down and shook me out".

Apron Day today
is too important to risk anything but the blue with yellow trim and ditsy flowers. My seriousest apron. :| I might as well have grease paint lines under my eyes, poised at the line of scrimmage. (ooooh, I spelled that right on the first try - I'm on a roll.

Kitchen work for the last 45, now a break,
then bathrooms are up
then vacuuming

I have a folded half-sheet of paper with Monday on one side and Tuesday on the other. Prep and basics like floors and toilets today, specifics of comfort like all clean linens tomorrow.

Keeping my dd37's nerves in mind :) because she NEEDS a ready home base for her family who will be trying to keep up routine at the same time they visit in a whirlwind, with extra responsibility for her. Lots of clear table space because even 3 separate homework spots must happen, just in the a.m. rather than evening, when they will be driving instead.

Finally back home and able to eat breakfast. Dh took a load of scrap metal in and I picked him up at DS-A's shop (where dh dropped off the borrowed truck). But FIRST I had to go have blood work done. I drank and used a hot pack all the way in, then another hot pack from them. Could they get blood? Of course not so she called the other tech in. Finally ended up in my right hand -hate the hand ones as they hurt a lot more. But finally got it done. By that point, because of all the water going in, it had to be released. Dh called to have me pick him up. Ended up coming back to the campground restroom first. Picked him up and then of course had to make a beeline home to get rid of more of that water. We both have appointments this afternoon with our cardiologist. Glad I decided to go with the same man. Makes appointments easier.

I do need to call Dh's lung specialist. For some reason I haven't been able to find an appointment with him for dh for this Fall. He always sees him twice a year. Going to look now. Then I'll don that Apron Attitude and get busy. Bed isn't even made yet.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Still at my computer. No real excuse.

Dh has headed off and I have until 1 to get the apartment vacuuming done and any disturbances in the office over with as he has a conference call.

It is a cool day and there was sun (it is getting cloudy now) so I need to get over this 'woe is me' attitude and step away from the computer.
