Good morning.

To respond to a comment from yesterday, Fed Blue Cross Blue Shield is one of the insurance choices available to federal employees and retirees, affectionately known as Fed Blue. Now it is my supplementary to Medicare.

All morning routines accomplished and partially dressed, with make up, for the doc appt this afternoon. No sense putting on a top yet , I'd just drop lunch on it. When I was employed I used to put a my shirt on just before leaving the house or put breakfast coat over my shirt for that very reason.   And I don't usually bother with make up in really hot weather or do just a dust of power and lipstick; no sense putting makeup on in 90°+ weather when it's just gonna melt off. But we have proper Texas fall weather this week, around 80° daytime and around 60° at night.

Good morning everyone! I will put on a virtual apron since I don't have a physical one. Then, I need to put on a dance costume. That performance is Saturday and I need to get cracking on the practice. I have videos on my own camera now, so I don't have to worry about them chewing up my data allowance. I only need to transfer them to my computer tonight (easy).

Last night was dance class followed by delivering a newly neutered kitten to his person. I expected him to hate me, because I also delivered him to his surgery. Nope. He marched out of the carrier purring and expected me to pay proper attention, which I did. I had a very nice visit with his person. I did not get cat food, but realized I HAVE cat food. The special diet kitties are not in-house anymore, and I can revert to a food they used to eat. In fact, it will probably last me until next pay cycle. Not much else got done, but not much else was planned either.

Tonight is normally Girls' Night Out with DD15, but I have to run an animal org open house from 6 to 7. I do want to call her and see how exams went. Especially since she was hit hard by Tiki's death, even though she saw the necessity. Other than that it is practice, practice, practice! Sometime during a break at payroll, I will consolidate a list of things I need to get done. I know I need to call the gastro doctor. No problems, just expired prescription.

I would like to extend my congratulations to Harriet and HRH on their anniversary.

lucylee: You mentioned medication for high functioning autism. I am interested. Not because DD needs it, but because no one has ever mentioned it to us (probably because she doesn't need it). DD wouldn't want it anyway. She does not think autism is something to be cured, but a useful variation in brain function. Doesn't stop me from being curious though.

Isn't it lovely when someone else drops by your office and says, "I'll do that" to one of the items on your list! Coworkers have taken on some outstanding orders (done) and adding hyperlinks to one of my reports (in progress). I have completed transcribing two Food Bank meetings and, most importantly, recording my action items on the Grand Master Changelist.

Starting priority 1 right now! This is the physical vs available inventory report. Getting that concept across to the users has been the bane of our existence. "Why doesn't the system inventory match what I see in the warehouse?" The system shows what you can give out to a client. Some of the items in the warehouse are allocated to other clients! If that package of spaghetti is supposed to go in George's box, you cannot give it to Jane! The big bugaboo is a federal report. No one in the program can escape reporting to the feds. So I put at the bottom "close these out before submitting report to the feds" and "these are the outstanding orders with allocated items and here are the amounts". Finally, they can see that the federally reported inventory (physical) minus the outstanding orders equals the system inventory (available). Once the orders are closed out, the inventories are magically equal.

I've been off in a genealogy la la land, otherwise known as "down the rabbit hole." Last week I had an article published in a nearby county historical/genealogical journal, and had a research contact about one of the people in the article. So I've been running down some research about that. And then dh has a new DNA match (not that close, but related to a match I haven't been able to figure out) and I was able to make some progress on that.

BUT......just remembered that I have a dental appt in 1.5 hours, so must drag myself away!

I love the spreadsheet, LadyM. THe type of thing I would do when I was younger, if Excel had been around!

Well, that is cool! Thank you all for your wishes. It is our 20th Anniversary. He brought me 20 red roses, we went to lunch together and I gave him the red air fryer, plus a cookbook for it. (He is used to getting healthy things from me - he's not surprised. And all you have to say is "french fries" and he's interested.) I had read that this air fryer (Avalon) doesn't really have a cookbook with it, so I bought this one. The point of an air fryer is to avoid or limit frying in oils and fats. It says that all over this one's paperwork, but the "cookbook" pamphlet they include is opposite - don't know why. We had already considered the two-night trip to the mountains to be an in-advance anniversary trip - wish we hadn't had to rush home on last day because of dfirstmil's illness, but it was still nice.

This morning was the study at church. All of us considered the study book for next year and my first thought is BORing. Sigh. There's another choice and I did try to steer us to it, but if not, we can make this one more interesting, maybe. I returned the historic book about missions in India to the lady who allowed me to borrow hers, and we showed the old inscription all around to each one present. Two there decided on the spot to order copies for themselves (used from A-River). They got seriously cheap prices compared to what I paid, but then I wanted one that could be considered in better condition. (supposedly mine arrives in the mail today - I certainly hope so)

I didn't think the color-coded spreadsheet was so laughable. (???) If I were actually responsible for a couple dozen persons having a large meal together it would probably help me to have that. We don't need to worry, though. ;) It won't come up.

Puberty!!!

The pediatrician said DS9 has the body of a 12 year old which puts him In puberty. I had seen the hair growing on DS9 but have been in denial that it meant puberty. Doc said we could take DS9 to specialist to confirm it through bone testing and blood work but there is nothing to be done about it so why go through the testing. Doc said going into puberty at 9 years old will limit the height growth of DS9 but he is already 5ft tall so is off the growth chart for his age anyway. Limiting his height growth shouldn't be a problem. Doc said a radiologist would have to read the neck x-rays. And that any radiologist would want to take his own x-rays. Doc doesn't think anything is wrong with DS9 neck (he didn't look at x-rays).

DS9 is meeting with speech pathologist now.

Just bought 10 hams averaging 20 lbs each. We will need to find refrigerator or freezer to keep them In until tomorrow night. We have permission to use the school's commercial refrigerator so hopefully that will work out without hitch. We pick up to 10 turkeys tomorrow afternoon.
1. Know what you want.
2. Go after it relentlessly.

Went to my meeting at church. Then dh and I went to sign up for silver sneakers at P Fitness. We have an appointment on Thursday to meet with the trainer. I'll talk with him then about what point I'm at in my rehab and what equipment they have that I can use. Dh will discuss his need for strengthening his knees and his shoulder. They had plans we could pay for but I'm sure what we get with our SS is plenty.

Picked up a quick lunch at McD's in the same plaza then went on a hunt for dh to find "All-Sorts" licorice. No luck. He was able to find it at W egmans bulk foods up home. DD has ordered it online for him before but it's pricey -well it's pricey anyway.

I have donned my apron and am on my way to the kitchen. We stripped our bed and put our new sheets on it. Washed and folded dd's sheets that had been on it so she can make her bed up with them. Needed both of us to make it up. I just can't lift the mattress. The old one was a piece of cake. Off to do duty!
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Happy Anniversary to Harriet and HRH! Have a fun day!

I think that spreadsheet is just fine. I remember my 7th and 8th grade home economics teacher showing us how to make a chart to figure out how to get a big meal all done on time. So many minutes for this or that, so start at this time or that time. I still do that but now it's all in my head. In my younger days I did write it all out. Now I strive to just get as much prep and stuff done ahead of time and then time the actual food. I've picked up tricks along the way. A ham can be done in an electric roaster pan; mashed potatoes can be done 30-40 min ahead of time and put in the crock pot on warm. Stuff like that.

Oh, important thing, keep a good amount of space clear on a counter, have carving knives or electric knives set out and serving dishes and hot plates. Assign one man to each meat. They seem to like doing that chore!

Last time I did a big company meal, I set up the card table out of the way and put all the big serving plates / bowls on there out of the way. That worked nicely, will do that again.

Do not know yet if I will be making Thanksgiving here or if we are going to niece's. I wish my family would figure out what they were doing.

LadyM, how does a dr. say his spine is ok without looking at the xrays? Maybe he's got some 6th sense..... Young girls these days mature early, I hadn't heard boys do it too. Maybe it will go slowly...

I don't know how you gals get all the stuff done you do. One thing added to my schedule throws me for a loop. What does that even mean, anyway? Today I had to go to different supplier to pick up something for DH. Drove all around that area for the first time in a couple years. Amazed how much that place has filled up with businesses. We used to be a sleepy coastal town.

Then I went to bank and Sams. That took a bunch of time as I couldn't find what I went for and that's a big place to wander around in. Today is the membership meeting at church with pot luck before. I don't understand what they're doing. They allotting 30 minutes for the pot luck. It'll take most of that to get our plates filled. Maybe they're having it in the same place and we're eating while the meeting happens? Sounds dumb to me.

Anyway, I had to pick something easy and fast. I made coleslaw from a huge bag of already chopped up stuff and I made my own dressing. And I cut up 2 cooked chickens - which were not cooked enough so some of that went into the oven for a while. I hope the meeting goes well and DH does not get on a tangent about something. He's not happy with their plans and I'm a bit embarrassed, cause he didn't like the last 3 things they did either. I think he's got a reputation and I just want to crawl under the table.
