Mastering Monday

Postby Kathryn-in-Canada » Mon May 07, 2018 8:21 am

I often feel if I master Monday, I'll master the whole week.

Several of us did some planning for this week as part of our reflecting yesterday. So now we need to work our plans.

For the rest of you, I hope you have a masterful start to the week!

I slept quite well and was awake just before 7, so just under 8 hours in bed. I was up once in the night and awake at least one other time (the blinds clacking in the breeze.)

It was lovely and chilly with an east wind so my bedroom was cool all night. I like sleeping in the cool breeze. I'll make sure I tied down the blinds better tonight, though.

I have a load of laundry on and am now having my tea and chocolate. I need to add little to-dos to my plan for the day. One is to walk over to pick up something from a member of the Buy Nothing Group. I'll add in a walk to the bank with that and that will help get my steps in for the day. That will take about 90 minutes.

It will be a lovely day (later, once it warms up) so I want to get the balcony spring cleanup finished. That will take about 90 minutes.

I'll put on my headphones and listen to preaching podcasts during those two tasks and that will help me get a start on the sermon writing for this week.

I've started a packing list for the weekend. So I have a place to put things as they occur to me. I also have to phone the hotel and figure out if I'm upgrading our room.

This is a gift to myself since our travel budget won't be strained this year. Dh is doing all the traveling so I want to treat myself a little bit so the spending isn't just all on him. Since 2012, he's had Peru, Kilimanjaro and his second trip to Tanzania and now Tanzania again this upcoming month. We've had the trips we took together but I'm feeling things are getting a little lopsided and I deserve something special. The problem is I don't want to travel and I'm busy the whole month of June so don't have free time to take off on my own trip (which ds had suggested, offering to come with me.)

So I'll call the hotel and find out the difference between a club floor room and a regular room. Since I'm going to be working on important writing the whole week (I'm calling this my study-week) I want comfortable and productive surroundings.

I'm your 'twin', Kathryn. I had the best night's sleep I've had in forever! I had almost 10 hours in bed -not all asleep but pretty much. I even had that large iced coffee last night and had dh on my mind. Wish I knew what made the difference.

Texted briefly with dh this morning to see how he is. :? He said he was on his way to get a few groceries. Was feeling a little 'better' but his stomach was still somewhat upset. Hopefully he's getting some soft foods that won't bother him. Can I say I can't wait to get up there? I am trying to do things toward being able to make the trip earlier if I need to.

DD waited until almost six o'clock for her rider this morning. This teacher had texted her Friday to tell her she'd been fired and her last day was the 18th of May. Miscue. Her actual last day WAS Friday. DD saw another teacher escorted out today by law enforcement. End of year drama for sure.

DD has a meeting near Bartow at 5 today -hmmmm.....wonder what that's for. So she texted to see if I wanted her to get pizza from a very special pizza parlor. Uh....yeah! No cooking tonight!

Need to get breakast done and be on with my day. Plan to do lots of scanning and filing. Also need to make a trip to W mart for a few things.

I slept fine last night but reverted to my old habits. I woke up after 5 hours sleep and didn't want to go back to sleep. Soooo at 2:39am I got up and got started on my day. I feel fully rested but I know that my body should have more sleep. I will be observing my sleep in the next few nights and expect to see longer sleep pattern to make up for last night.

I went for an early morning walk. That energized me physically, emotionally and mentally. No matter what I do the rest of the day it feels good that I accomplished this trying-to-establish daily habit.

I had scheduled 4 hours to take DS9 to his Homeschool Coop class this morning. DH volunteered to take him so I have timeslots suddenly available to do other things. I have a looonnnggg list of to-do's that have been waiting so I will see how many I can accomplish during this unexpected free time.

Morning...

I have already started my laundry and need to do a grocery run. Also need to stop at the post office. Dinner is done so most of my has been planned.

The heat is recorded breaking 106* and is 11* above normal so I’ll make sure I get any outside errands don early. Need to get my summer hat out as well.

Off for my second cup of herbal tea and Perry this morning. Made sure my kitchen was clean and my sink shined before I went to bed last night. Love my evening routines!!!

Waving to y’all ... enjoy your day :D

I was up around 7:30 and have been productive. I've worked on goals/progress goals/actions + tasks for new BSJ. Should have done it before today, when I'm starting but better late than never.

I have a second load of laundry in the washer and have done a.m. routine except for continuing with laundry. Last night we had friends over for wine and cheese and "comic book display" by dh, then went out for dinner nearby, then back here for more comic book sorting by the men. I was ready for them to head home - I hope dh develops a hobby out of this but I was tired.

Yesterday afternoon I worked on the new research for the friend I met on Friday and found a fantastic lead. I had to order a record from the National Archive so will have to wait for that.

I wrote this a long time ago and am just now posting. I'm online for my noon discussion group.

So glad for you, Twins. I, OTOH, have accomplished little more than make the bed, eat breakfast AND lunch. I got sucked into a Hallmark movie  Now I need to plan the rest of my day accordingly so I can say I accomplished much.

Texted with dh who says he's feeling better and gave me TMI. Made sure he's taking his M iralax every day now which he says he is. So, hopefully he'll stay feeling better. In the meantime I do need to get ready to travel so I'm not doing everything "last minute". I've been compiling lists for dd and me for 'last minute' things. Dawned on me yesterday that some things on her list will really be MY responsibility since I'll be the one 'turning out the lights'. She'll leave for work about 5:30 that morning. Things like making sure all lights & fans are off, all the doors and windows locked -that sort of thing. She's never had to think about most of this before. I plan to finish emptying our fridge/freezer of the very few things in there -today. Then I'll turn it off and prop it open for the summer. We've never done that before here either. I'm pretty much in practice from closing up our RV the end of each season. Think of things dd just wouldn't think of.

Ok -off I go. Ready to "Master".

Got a print out done to work on expenses from. S2s, put fresh sheets on the bed and did the first load of laundry. Vacuumed the bedroom wing and did half the dusting in there.

Walked to pick up the give away item and the bank.

I am having lunch now at the fancy grocery store's hot food bar before heading home for more work, accounting and housework.
