Home from a successful trip to the city.
Done - DH appt with eye specialist. He still has 20/20 vision without glasses.
Done - Out to eat with my favorite fella
Done - SUV gas tank full ($2.36 gallon)
Done - Pantry restock items purchased,
Done - Food items to take tonight purchased
Done - Gifts for dirty santa

I was a mile from the house when DS15 called asking "What are we having for lunch?" He was home for his lunch break so I quickly put together a quick meal.

Is anyone else a snapchat newbie?

Taking a break….

Finished decoration my inside entree way and a sofa table that sits on my wall. Couldn’t use a table cloth that was my moms… maybe 70 years old and is dear to my son. Got an ideas to fold and iron it to make a runner for that table. Should make my son smile as it has many memories attached to it. It’s white with Christmas ribbons and balls on it. My son was so fond of it he always wanted to use it for his April birthday!

Have laundered 3 loads of wash and put them away. Two to go… towels in the dryer and sheets in the washer.

Next up is my kitchen. I am pulling out all the necessary bowls, platters and silver ware and staging them for use. I have a list for food and one for the serving pieces I need for them. Checking the items off as I go along.

Have a list on Dec 24 of food I am cooking and serving. This way I can check everything off as I go along.

I’ve been reading thre are very rough seas in the Atlantic and many cruise boats are being turned away from their destinations or cancelled all together. One cruise ship was suppose to go to the Bahamas but was sent to Canada with only a days noticed. Don’t think flip flops would work up there let alone a bathing suit :D

Got by the temple, dropped off cards and checks, and texted others. Then I went by a new kitchen store that I had heard about. For M & S ended up with gourmet vanilla extract ($35 for 8 oz.), Christmas napkins and matches, and gourmet chocolate chips - not a gourmet as the vanilla, all in a pretty gift bag with fancy tissue paper. All consumables, and as a baker I think the vanilla and chocolate chips will be of interest. She does so many things so beautifully!

I'm going to walk the ddog now.

DH appt with eye specialist. He still has 20/20 vision without glasses.
This is amazing, LadyM. Was a point of pride for my dh but he needs reading glasses now. < me, who has worn glasses since I was 18

DH 20/20 vision isn't natural, but he is thankful to have it. A few decades ago (30 years?) DH opted to have lens implant surgery. He was wearing heavy coke bottle thick glasses before the surgery but hasn't needed glasses since. Even after all these years I am still fascinated and thrilled by how medical and technological advances made it possible to have clear eyesight with no glasses.

I sat down and looked at social media. I know better than to do that because time evaporates. I need a snapchat tutorial.

Next up = finish deep cleaning the main refrigerator. Goodness. It has been my project for 3 days. This is ridiculous to take so long.

I'm just showing up, after almost two days AWOl, I guess. Two days with a grandchild underfoot -- plus going to a funeral yesterday. (Husband of one of my teacher group friends.) Also, ds & dgrands came over and ate with us last night. (Just canned chili, Wolf brand, which is the only kind they will eat except homemade.) THEN, after much drama, dgd pulled her second tooth, and the Tooth Fairy had to visit here. AND the Tooth Fairy had to answer QUESTIONS dgd left in a note for her. Did y'all know, the present Tooth Fairy is TF 18th, and she lives at the North Pole with Santa? (DGS helped with the answers to the questions.) She is 202 years old and her parents are TF 17th and Molar D. Canine. (She writes in very tiny pink ink, all caps.) Oh -- and she leaves $5 per tooth. I think it was only a dollar when her mom was operating, some 40 years ago. Probably a quarter in MY day.

After taking dgd home this morning, I told dh I was going to take a break and enjoy the Christmas tree, so I had been lying on the couch for a while. DS called and he is stopping by in a minute or so. Then -- writing down what needs to be done around here --

TODAY
[ ] s2s
[ ] go to bank
[ ] supper
[ ] iron dh's clothes

BEFORE SATURDAY
[ ] wrap dmom's presents for dgrands
[ ] get money gifts prepared
[ ] deliver gift to our renters
[ ] bake cookies
[ ] dgd's ballgames Th & Fri nights
[ ] dgd spend the night Fri

Right now, it is fast approaching last minute for s2s. DH will be getting HANGRY if I wait much longer.

I must say, that was quite strange -- about the neighbor using y'all get her husband out of bed, LadyM. My goodness! I hope she doesn't have a REAL emergency anytime soon. Shaking my head...

Also, (((Blessed))) -- I understand your dh's reluctance to socialize with a large group after the last Covid scare... no one would want to risk repeating THAT! Whew... good for you to go ahead and do Facetime and help him to be a part of things that way.
Tomorrow is another day.

Refrigerator is FINALLY deep cleaned and organized.
For clarity's sake, I have only finished the refrigerator part. I haven't done the freezer part....yet

DD12 opted to do her exercise minutes by walking outside today instead of going to the gym. We will be leaving in a few minutes for DS15 hair cut appt and gym.

The food items I'm taking tonight are ready to go. Ww will be cutting it close to make it on time.

yay on your decluttering adventures d Nancy!!! yay on anti-procrasination week!

thank you d harriet! oh my gosh - that is so cool that Tobias is so talented.
you have a busy day coming up! cheering you on.

hello dear everyone!!!

dh came with me to get the end of the white elephant gift at tractor supply. I loved the smell of alfalfa that wafted through the equine area. it reminds me of the dairy farm and the horses he had.
That and the smell of sweet hay baskets make me remember the outdoors in Wisconsin.

I ran some more errands - also stopped at cost co to get the beef for beef Burgundy that I had promised my mom before she left for Florida.
I found a beginning charcuterie board item from the same place - I have to add a variety crackers, cheese and fruit. That will make the appetizer thing so much easier.

I have the cleaning company coming tomorrow - I will let that be the last visit until mid April or May. I like have the cleaning company for the summer.

My brother and my mom are not home yet! it's a miracle for d mom to be out visiting this long! wonderful!!! I am so happy for her!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Rose, I also meant to tell you I love your idea to use the tablecloth as a runner! I know your ds will be so thrilled to see it again. Christmas is all about family and memories -- I mean, apart from Jesus' birth, of course. All the other "stuff" we do means very little without family and our memories and traditions.
So far... a couple of additions --

TODAY
[x] s2s
[x] go to bank
[x] supper (Dh's idea -- R*d L*bster, my favorite!)
[x] washing one last load of clothes (very small load)
[x] iron dh's
[x ] dgs coming to spend the night. DH's idea, but I offered to call and see if he was available. ;) Told dgd I could NOT play with her tonight, so it should be dgs' night; he doesn't require much from me when he's here. DH just feels better when one of the dgrands is around; it helps take his mind off himself and what the doctor might say next week. He is sooo worried and depressed about this.

BEFORE SATURDAY
[ ] color my hair
[ ] wrap dmom's presents for dgrands
[ ] get money gifts prepared
[ ] deliver gift to our renters
[ ] bake cookies
[ ] dgd's ballgames Th & Fri nights
[ ] dgd spend the night Fri

I got stuff done today. Not a lot but enough. Dh is fully on-board now so he did 85% of the cards and they are all finished and in the mail. Thankfully, I had enough stamps at home for them. Not Christmas but better to have the job done.

He also went over to Home Depot and picked up bed risers. We noted our old ones had cracks in some of them and the casters were going through. I didn't look to confirm he got the right ones. I'll just hold my breath until we try to install them tomorrow.

This is what happens when you put off something and make hard work for yourself. I spent hours and hours researching back in September and determined I could have the bed high up or I could have the bed on casters but I couldn't have both. I even added a bed frame to my Amazon wish list that is super high so I can store underneath. But I never ordered it. Now we have a guest coming and a bed that is only on 4 functioning risers out of 6.

In the not going well category....

I have failed to do any Christmas baking without ending up with edible but not special. I'm 3/3 edible. The kosher salt was weird in the brownies (I'm used to salted caramel as a flavour, not salted chocolate fudge.) There's something wrong with the nuts and bolts (no idea what, they just aren't all that good.) And tonight I made thumbprint cookies after taking dh's frozen dinner out of the oven. Apparently, I cancelled the oven temp instead of setting it lower and so after 12 minutes they weren't done. After another 2 minutes I realized the oven wasn't on. It took another 14 minutes to overcook them. So now they are more golden brown than golden. Edible but not worth giving as a hostess gift or even offering them to anyone.

I'm very upset about this. It isn't the cost of the ingredients, it is the effort and time with nothing to show for it. Nothing to put out if people come over. Sigh....

I'm off to bed now. I have to do a delivery at 8 in the morning. The dishwasher is running. I have another load of laundry to go in the morning.

Lucylee: I loved the history of the tooth fairy! Well done!
