This is an interesting clutter assessment quiz from Peter Walsh.

A good article on Conquering Clutter by Peter Walsh.

1. Could you have a party without cleaning up first?
... ...what? I don't understand the question.

2. Do your clothes fit in your closet?
It's tight, but nothing falls.

3. Without looking, do you know where to find your car keys, your unpaid bills, and your home or renter's insurance policy?
Yes

4. What is on your dining room table right now?
A few piles of bills—and my child's art collection. (Gee, the assessment knew my answer.)

5. How many magazines are in your house right now?
Um... ... infinity.

6. How many paper and shopping bags are you saving?
AHA! I just worked on that. The answer is "just enough".

7. If you had to change a lightbulb, could you find one?
Yes

8. Are all your DVDs and CDs in their sleeves?
Yes

9. Are your kids' toys anywhere but in their rooms or designated play areas?
No

10. Are there dirty dishes in the sink?
No. I don't allow them in the sink because that makes bacteria soup. Supper's are piled beside it for one more hour until Evening Daily Card. Then, they will vanish.

11. Are dirty clothes anywhere but in the hamper?
Hamper? We say, hamperS. "They are only in the hamperS." We definitely need more than one container. But, another correction - baskets, not hampers! (Thanks, Nancy)

12. Are there out-of-date medications in your medicine chest?
AHA! I just decluttered the master bathroom; there are none!

13. Are all bills paid and papers filed?
Yes

14. Does every item of clothing in your closet fit you now?
... ...what? I don't understand the question.

Nancy, you are exactly right - it should be "baskets" for our house, too, not "hampers". I don't know what I was thinking - I was so intent on correcting the idea that anyone thought just one container should do it! LOL! The only hamper I have any charge of is one my dmother bought about 1958, because it matched the bathroom. Every time she tried to use it as I grew up it was an absolute disaster! It was hard to reach down into, very deep, and you couldn't see what clothes were there. But it was too heavy to tip to the side. She kept it as an unsatisfactory (but matching!) table.

I don't think laundry waiting in baskets is clutter. You just need to have a place for it and decide on the "turnover", or rate at which you intend to keep it washed. That depends on waiting until you have enough for an efficient load of whatever color/delicacy. It's clutter if it is overflowing.

Harriet thanks for that!

I went through the closet and got out too small blazers, plus
some coats, & I've have rounded up things I have decided that need to leave
this house and next up I'm going to get them in the car trunk.
Yea!!! for cleaner closets and cupboards!
Sorted and tossed some shoes too.
Some seasonal stuff that can go for the costumes this time of year too!

2. Do your clothes fit in your closet?
Yes, with plenty of room to spare. I am using 3 closets. One closet in the guet room is for items on hangers to go to resale. Dh's closet is for my new clothes. My closet has the clothes I'm going through to check the fit.

3. Without looking, do you know where to find your car keys, your unpaid bills, and your home or renter's insurance policy?
    Yes

6. How many paper and shopping bags are you saving?
No paper bags all my groceries come in plastic. The regular plastic bags from the grocery delivery went back with the driver. This weeks will go back in 2 weeks. No and I broke Dh of that habit. I said sometime one of will need an empty sink for a burn. It went directly in the dishwasher.

Last night I switched back and forth between all am. handy man and hoarders
it was interesting to see why one gal was hoarding b/c she did not want to let go of
the childhood of her children. A guy had legal issues and was threatened to be jailed
if his place did not met safety fire code family did lots of yelling. I did not get the reason
of why one other gal was hording but she made good progress reclaiming some rooms of
her place.

She had fianlly kept lots of "I might need for craft projects some day" [I think] were
in boxes in the living room.
