April 2012 Quarter-Year-Mark Declutter!

Postby Harriet » Sun Apr 01, 2012 10:10 am

Today is a milestone of 2012, as we begin the second quarter of the year!
Is it time to ~^~shake ~^~ things ~^~up ~^~ and try new ideas?

How is your PLAN working - would you enjoy a change?
Is there better CALENDARING that would help keep you focused?
Are their CONTAINERS (trash, storage) you'd like to use differently or replace?
Are you using RECORD KEEPING to your advantage or do you need a change?
Do you need to refocus on DONATION?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy, let's have a little fun! Please FILL IN THE BLANK with a funny signal YOUR house is giving you that you need a declutter! (Don't wait to have a funny one to post - we may need a chuckle most later in the month anyway! )
Fill In the Blank:
If your _____________________________________ ..... you might need to declutter.
Here's one my house is sending :
If your sewing basket is balanced on an older, bigger sewing basket that doesn't work well anymore,
and there's another sewing basket at another spot in the room anyway,
AND this is your BEDROOM ..... you might need to declutter.
Handy-Dandy Reference :D for decluttering AHEAD of Focus Cleaning :idea:
This is for those who want to go along with the Focus Cleaning schedule in the Organization and Simplification Forum and would like to do their decluttering in each area first. Here's the declutter schedule.
this week bathrooms
4/3/2012 office/other room
4/10/2012 closets
4/17/2012 laundry
4/24/2012 storage
Tweak as desired to fit your lovely home!
Looking for Indiana's Focus Cleaning threads instead? HERE'S YOUR SLIDE! (calendar thread is at top of forum, look for 2012)
If your kitchen countertop or kitchen or dining room table has completely disappeared, you might need to declutter. This was my situation last week.
I jut told DH I will never again build a kitchen with the sink in the middle of a separate island where there is no wall or backsplash, because the water oversprays get all over any papers or other stuff laying around on the island. Ink runs. Especially on blueprints. :oops:
Ok I'll play here's mine!
If your tool room / storage area has boxes that are stacked nearly to the ceiling with old papers from a farm that's been sold containing papers from several generations ..... you might need to declutter.
Celebrations have happened as various points like when it was below eye level, and then below our waist line! Progress is being made wa-hoo!
Today when I got up noted that h. had three stacks of movies set out to go some videos and some DVD's. This is timely as the plastic tote could not hold all of the ones he had collected.
:D :D I'm so glad someone else has a head-shaking clutter spot! I hate to think I'm the only one with them.
"If a stack on your dryer is so precarious it shakes off into the floor just because the washer goes into spin cycle, you miiiight need to declutter."
Uh! Papers! Now that we are consistently bringing my ddad's newspaper and catalog deliveries here to our house, we are drowning under the headlines, the comics and ALL the advertisements. I found them at 3 different places as I picked up this morning, including on the floor in front of the dryer! Gee, wonder how that happened. :oops:
HRH insisted dd work with him on declutter some today. They did the longest kitchen counter - didn't really finish it but it looks good. She also decluttered her room.
