Dstepson shared with me the idea of buying one or two large Rubbermaid bins and putting them (without lids or with lids underneath) into the trunk of the car. That helps prevent clutter by dividing the space. Plus it keeps groceries, etc., from rolling all over, and avoids spills, He uses his two containers to visually "hide" his wife's pocketbook directly behind one of them when she wants to leave it while they go on a walk. Even if someone did take the time to break in, and made it all the way to looking in the trunk, they would see Rubbermaid containers with just utility things.
