March 2021 Sort, Tidy, Declutter!

Postby Harriet » Mon Mar 01, 2021 5:05 pm

O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind? - Percy Bysshe Shelley

The weather story where I am is a big leap in windspeed, right on the calendar cue.

I found us some uplifting quotes on March coming in whoosh like a Lion and expecting a lot of us. Even if we're blown around by (literal or figurative) winds in the coming month, we can still come out of winter hoping for a spring-cleaning or inspiration from sunshine, or optimism that we can tackle something tough. (this is with Lynlee's indulgence, I hope, since I know her March may be heading toward a calmer time)

A great wind is blowing, and that gives you either imagination or a headache. - Catherine the Great

To reach a port we must sail, sometimes with the wind, and sometimes against it. But we must not drift or lie at anchor. - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of. - Jim Rohn

Though the sex to which I belong is considered weak you will nevertheless find me a rock that bends to no wind. - Elizabeth I

True courage is like a kite; a contrary wind raises it higher. - John Petit-Senn

Are you finding courage against the headwinds of clutter and disorganization this month? Do tell!

Thanks for the start Harriet.

today's weather news, 2nd day of autumn.
"Cyclone Niran forms near Queensland
08:04 EDT
'
Tropical Cyclone Niran has developed off the north Queensland coast this morning."
I am reminded that statistics have recorded cyclones in every month, but mostly they are done by end of April.

Yesterday there were thick layers of clouds, and today there is blue sky.

Anything binned will be celebrated here. I have in mind 2 old washing baskets to go.
For starters, they are waiting.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

There was a moment in my decluttering today in which I was disappointed to find so little I could throw away. The laundry area. I know that is an area of pretty "immediate" items, but I was thinking there was more to go.

HRH says he doesn't want to keep any clothing except what he has been wearing recently. I know he thinks this is true, but he hasn't gotten into the commemoratives and keepsakes from former workplaces, etc. Also, I doubt he's thought through how different this year has been.

Lynlee, you are right - anything into the bin is a celebration.

The sewing area looks different. Nothing on the walls.

Sure enough, commemorative golf shirts from his days playing in charity tournaments have him stopped. He just can't let those go. Also, there are hats that are just too sentimental. But he has gone through some things and let go. He let go of other golf items, work things.

We have a nice lidded box freed up - that's good. Plenty tossed today.

I've got a good start on another donation bag of my things.

I have put some items in the rig to be hauled off after my decluttering adventures today.
