April 2021 Sort, Tidy, Declutter!

Postby Harriet » Thu Apr 01, 2021 8:40 am

It's the quarter-point of the year, 2021!

What steady declutter progress are you making - what progress do you hope to make in April? We have 30 days ahead of us to make change and improve the calmness of our lives!

I rounded up donations this week and delivered them today.
A half of a grocery basket full.
Yea for that progress.

hello d harriet and d Nancy and all!!!

I am working on my decluttering again

I am also going back to the questions in Let it go questions:

Let it go exercise 2: Peter Walsh 3. of 12 questions
the objects that identify Me.

"When strangers encounter me, I hope they think of me as": (or come into my home - I added)
"What top three possessions that I own help me create that impression? (does my stuff represent who I want to be or who I am?)
"What possessions that I have create the opposite perception?"

my goal is to have the things I own represent who I am now.

we are not fishermen/women - I love the idea but don't care for hooking fish - I have always felt guilty ;)
so today: my fishing tackle box is leaving our house along with net
also extra coffee maker
cook books
dh's shoes that are nice but don't fit him well
hat that was too small for dd younger
2 ravina blankets (too bulky to take to concerts)
grabbed more cookbooks and they are in car
got rid of a video that I have had for multiple years and haven't watched it.
got rid of children's bible as I no longer need it.
got rid of all the rosemaling books etc.
got rid of extras of art paper.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

That's thought-provoking, blessed. I would like people to know - of what am I a student? And I don't think that's just a certificate to hang on the wall although that can be part, perhaps. It's what books do I read, definitely, because that's also showing ME my interests, right at hand. Beyond that, each interest of a person would have its own potential decor or momentos, and they shouldn't be hidden if they are meaningful.

Upcoming declutters here:
kitchen small appliances that don't have purpose
go through the cardboard-type mini drawer sets

maybe I'll add some more to this post as I think of them.

I like that d Harriet - the books that you have read that shows who you are!!!
they shouldn't be hidden if they are meaningful.

d harriet you have given me something to think about. I have a plate that I won't use that was my d grandmothers - it's sitting in a drawer. I will ask my cousin if she wants it. I don't entertain anymore and I have never used it and have not displayed it.

I pulled a bunch of pewter that is not me any more (more my d mom) and tried putting it on fb market place but no takers
I also am getting rid of some antique iron hanging pots for the fireplace.

I pulled the pool large container (like new still) with locking lid and emptied it. I will no longer be using the floats and other pool stuff - I let them go by tossing opened items and donated packaged items. It's in the car now.

all the pewter I didn't want and the iron hanging pots are donated. not one person wanted it on fb market place. dh and I brought this in.

asked d sis in law if she wanted the floats for the river - brand new and never opened
