May Clutter Control

Clear surfaces, organized cubbies and lovely living spaces are available to us with just the commitment to manageable declutter appointments. Here in this monthly thread, we encourage each other to commit to 15 minutes of clutter control time per day, OR the equivalent on other schedules. We hope you'll join us.

Never feel you are alone if you have clutter struggles. We know where you are because we've been right there (and then have faltered after decluttering and ended up there again… … twice or three times :oops: ). We know the same prospect looms for our future if we don't stay vigilant! Clutter is picking a fight with ALL of us. We are with you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you’d like some partners while working:
One scheduling suggestion has been a weekly room/area rotation together. During each current week, those who choose to can declutter "together" in the upcoming week's Focus Cleaning room as a first step toward lovely spaces. We know cleaning is efficient if clutter is not in the way - we can almost have fun with it. But clutter can discourage or stop us if we can't find the surfaces in the first place. Decluttering is a preceding step that can (literally) make cleaning a glide instead of a stumble.
You’ll find some May declutter partners in these rooms:
Week of 4/27 - storage
Week of 5/4 - outdoor
Week of 5/11 - kitchen
Week of 5/18 - living room
Week of 5/25 - dining room
Substitute a different room or area whenever it will match your home’s needs best, and change back and forth from this plan to your own anytime.
Bouncing in for some accountability!
I won't be able to follow the shesO plan, but I'll pop in there when at the appropriate decluttering sessions.
My whole house needs decluttering before we have a weekend full of visitors on Memorial Day weekend. Graduations, college & high school, and an Eagle Court of Honor are being celebrated by family coming and being a part of the weekend.
Saying to self :arrow: I REALLY need to start doing this EVERY DAY!
hi harriet and hi smile.. also great job to everyone!!!
As you know my ddad and daunt recently passed. I have become even more convinced that it is best not to leave a family with a bunch of stuff to deal with. My mom is very streamlined. Alot of the stuff is just stuff. My house lately has been getting things in but I haven't been letting go at the same pace so I need to concentrate on that. So today I am donating the bouncy horse from the basement and getting rid of cloths as we bought new summer cloths. I also am praying for dcousin as she deals with the stuff she is keeping everything from daunt, she now has 2 rental storage areas and a full garage. The stuff doesn't make the loved one.
Hi - good work everyone. April was a very random decluttering month for me, due to family health events. I have committed to May decluttering something every day. I started yesterday with magazines, which have piled up. I will pick an area today to work in. Thanks for all your reporting in, keeps me focused and motivated.
Blessed - yes, yes, yes to not leaving stuff for your children to deal with. I have written about my experiences with in-laws before, but always good to remind ourselves how easy it is to let it get away from our focus. One in - one out rule is always helpful.
Getting ready for a yard sale this spring/summer some time.
Great for us to think about the excess of furniture we have
two estate sales as neighbors are having one too.
So I'm rounding up stuff.
So how many desks does one house hold need any way? :lol:
