July 2021 Sort, Tidy, Declutter!

Postby Harriet » Thu Jul 01, 2021 2:18 pm

It's the half-point of the year, unbelievably!

What's leaving your lovely home these days, in order to keep it lovely and usable?

What's in need of organizing, so that an abundance of sensible items doesn't have to look like (cl) utter nonsense ?

What's better given to another family so that they can be blessed ?

oooh, i'm so proud of that "clutter nonsense" phrase, lol. I made a pun, (or something).

probably lots of people already said that, but I'm amused anyway.

Harmony, our dumpster from "Discount Dumpsters" stayed here 10 days and was picked up Monday, very efficient. Need to do a review for them.

We still face the same puzzles over getting things done before we can put furniture (or ourselves) into the house. Hopefully, the dam will break on a few of them soon.

More items for donation are in the trunk of the car. Dd22 arrives this evening to continue working with us. Wish she could come more often, but twice a week is about all she can manage. And soon she'll have to give a weekend to helping drive dsonil's old truck here, so that weekend we won't have her.

June review -
Change of focus & goals :
Due to heat wave most if not all plans had shift.
The creativity room is one of the roms I closed off so not doing any thing on the papwr taming.
But I did change up and shifted my focus to the papers etc. On the dining room table and madecsome pretty good progress on that.

Yard sale stuff did not get out of here bc of the heat as well.

A previous Stash and Dash gone through and most could be tossed. Too bad another Stash and Dash is now in a box. lol. I will label it - I'm labeling everything else for the move! I'm using Sharpie printing on strips cut from printer paper, taped down with clear packing tape. Maybe actually having a large, easily readable label will get us moving on the Stask and Dash sooner! HRH suggested instead of Stash and Dash, label it, "Don't know what the heck is in here".

In order to move "my" two desks, I have emptied each into large totes, one labeled, "from Sewing Desk" and another "from Office Desk". We are still not 100 percent sure these desks can make the move - there is an odd twist and turn at their "new" home office space that may not accommodate them, and with new paint and floors being refinished we can't try them out yet. So I may just have two totes sitting in a big room!

Bedroom move is understandable only to me, lol, but the cabinets of the tall storage are wide open and empty. So that makes me feel virtuous.

Dd22 and friend K worked one day this week on her room but it's still not clear of ditsy things. She comes again tomorrow and there's so many places to ask her to work with me... .. hmmm... ..

Deadline here: Carpet installed 21st 22ed on bedroom side.
Deadline there: Dd41's moving vans arrive 23rd.
Intermediate deadlines: Dstepson and friend have 17th off to help move big furniture from here to there.
floor "curing" there now so only laminate flooring areas can take walking (or moving/storing)
and HVAC threat hangs over us. (we can't live there in this heat while they work, without AC, but HRH is super resistant to them bringing window units because we just paid the painters. Sigh He's so miffed they didn't already get this DONE before we were living there - they are way behind schedule)

If you're not a little nervous ... ..

your dh is funny! I don't know what it is instead of stash and dash!

gosh I can't tell you how very proud I am of all of the dear Harriet's! so much work being done!!!
it's a lot to get ones head around but you and your dear ones are taking care of what needs to be done.

praying that the painters finish their work and do a very good job.
it is always a joy to be here with you!
