Food diaries, logs & comments, February 2009

Postby Harriet » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:34 pm

What do you all think of this less time-limited title? Just seemed like more frequency freedom in posting our meals/diet might be appreciated.

Feel free to post with brief notes or thoughtful comments, whether you are tracking each meal every day, tracking amounts of each pyramid group (dairy, veggies, etc.) or tracking your general thoughts by day, week or other! Feel free to give input on how to edit the title best, too! ;)

Sounds good! I have obviously lost my enthusiasm for recording every bite I eat, haven't I?
It IS hard to take time to type it all in... and even harder to track calories, etc., which would probably make the whole exercise more useful (or at least more frightening!) to me...
* sigh *
BUT -- it is good to have a place to keep track. The new heading is fine -- covers everything we need!

I've just been SERIOUSLY off track since last week when the washing machine died. That one night of running all over next town checking prices at the big box stores and then the remaining nights of watching the laundry pile grow... whew... it just got me totally out of the mood to do anything.
That IS ridiculous, though.

At any rate... new washer seems to be doing just fine. Happy dance... happy dance... :D
I plan to exercise tonight!
Tomorrow is another day.

I'm realizing that I do get into ruts - I'll try to make them healthy ones

Tuesday Eating
apple
egg salad half-sandwich with lettuce, SlimFast
big tossed salad with 1/4 avocado
"Tuscan Bake" by Kashi (a veggie freezer meal)
100-calorie "Grasshoppers" mini-cookies packet

(Tues was a very good day - felt light and good about what I ate.
No soft drinks.)

Wednesday Eating
eggs and toast, 1 cup skim milk
big tossed salad with 1/4 avocado
Subway 6-inch tuna on oat bread, all the veggies, small Coke
Chicken salad with grapes

(Wed, because we were out shopping, I ate at Subway, should have chosen
a lighter sandwich. Also they were out of "zero" Coke and I went ahead and
had the regular, so I'm kinda mad at myself over that meal. My day could have
been better.)

I hope to reinforce my Healthy Habits chart, so when I record here I'll try to answer its food questions.

Thursday Eating

bkfst: 6 fresh strawberries w/1/4 cup dark chocolate chips on Special K Waffle, 1 cup skim milk
lunch: a fresh yellow squash and a fresh carrot, shredded, with mayo on a whole grain tortilla
supper: blackeyed peas, chopped spinich, slaw, 1/2 cup baked spaghetti

at least 5 fruits/veggies?
mostly God Made?

I have fallen off the wagon posting my eating, but I really need to do that, so I'll just jump right in today.

I washed a bunch of grapes so those are ready for my munchies throughout the day, although dfriend recommended baby carrots/carrot stix dipped in hummus to stave off the late afternoon cravings. I've bee doing that quite successfully this week. I love hummus, especially the garlicky sort that I got. :) Only 35 calories in 2T

One of my main issues: drinking enough water. I just don't get thirsty. . .

Friday eating:
b'fast: tea, sm. bowl of all-bran w/ 2% milk 2.5 WW pts.
lunch: wrap (ham, light mayo, dijon, leftover salad), grapes, clementine 4.5? WW pts.

Exercise: 30 minutes on elliptical + back exercises

helia, one way I convince myself to drink water is to drink it first thing in the morning. I find that I like it fine then, even enjoy it. But if I eat and drink other things first, the water won't even occur to me all morning and it will be lunchtime with no real water consumption. I have a pint of water every morning before the school run.
