The Father's Day meal we all decided on turned out to be so full of oil (oriental restaurant) that I felt physically sick afterward and dstepdil left half her plate. I believe anyone could make restaurant meals seem delicious for the first few bites, if all they had to do was just ladle on the salt, sugar and oil. It doesn't seem like much of a talent. Had we gone with the second choice, at an Italian place, it would have been about as bad, though. dd19 has found a restaurant for us all to try that she says does much better, but we could not today because the parking was impossible (shared parking with movie place and others so weekend is full). I will look forward to that sometime.

I'm so glad you and the scale were friends! If your experiment couldn't be best for your CH at least it gave you a scale encouragement and didn't let you down there. How much of the weight loss did you attribute to the time you spent doing smoothies and then went to JJ Smith? I did read up on it and put a couple of the new smoothie books, especially with colorful covers into my A-river future-list I might order. It has occurred to me that through the hot summertime I might like to up my percentage of cool smoothie meals. The heat of the stovetop (at least), which is turned on quite often in the house for my from-scratch meals, does warm the kitchen up for sure, and when it's more than once a day it can feel like $$$ cost of AC may be rising with the cooking :? .

peanut butter - I have switched over to almond butter mostly and enjoy it. The grandchildren are fine with it. It does a good job of balancing frozen cranberry's tartness in a shake, with a flavor that doesn't overpower in the way peanut can. A test of fruits for suppressing cancer cell growth in vitro was won hands-down by cranberries  so they are worthwhile for sure, but they need to be fresh or frozen, so that's not exactly something you pop in your mouth by itself, lol. (lemon was second, then apple and strawberry in a tie)

Harriet...I did JJ progam for three weeks with little movement on the scale. Most who have lost tons of weight with her at very over weight 50+ lbs or more with many 100lbs over weight which are why I think is why they saw reaults. I was faithful to it with little results.

Then I bought her thirty day program. Her dinner recipes are delish and I’ve many of them scaling some down to be low carb. I am still making sweeties smoothies in the morning using some of JJ’s recipes. What I learned was to use fruits in them that I wouldn’t have considered before. Apples, frozen grapes a frozen pineapple come to mind. Sweetie has totally given up cereal and milk. He now eats a sprout raisin type muffin with his smoothies and sprout bread for his sandwiches.

I am giving up cane sugar as well as the artificial stuff including stevia. I believe the stevia type sugar sets my hernia off. Can’t drink caffeine either which leaves me water and herbal teas to drink. The low carb high good fat seems to help because it cuts back on my cravings which leads me to believe I am truly carb sensitive and sugar addicted.

Won’t lie, it’s not easy but now it’s not just a weight loss thing, but hopefully it will help my stomach issues.

I'm hardly getting any sugar these days. Very little carbs. I have way less cravings than I used to. I use stevia but only once in a great while. It does not seem to affect me. I have way less acid reflux than I used to. Happy for that.

I am in the 150's now, just barely, but I'm there!

Harmony - you are doing great! Congratulation on making the changes and seeing good results.

Mid-month review -
** My fitbit quit synching 3 days ago and I didn't notice until this morning. I'm charging it now and hopefully will get back on track. Without that firm information, I can only guess at how much sleep I am getting. I suspect it is not much sleep. DD text during the night as DSIL has a crisis after crisis. He is literally in a fight for his life....again and again. I try to sleep light so I can respond to her when it happens. There have been 2 times that I was sleeping so deep that I didn't hear the text.
** I have quit participating in OA group. I am still a member but have stopped working the tools and reporting them daily. I have stopped attending the 10 meetings each week. I miss this group and intend to return asap.
** I am still following the food plan I learned in FoF group. I like eating this way. It is simple, easy and healthy. The question is........ can I maintain it on my own?
** My weight is down 2.5 lbs from the beginning of the month. I'm not celebrating this yet. I feel like I am walking a tightrope without a net and will fall off at any time with the slightest breeze.

Lady M - we can't be all things everywhere at once. Take care of priorities atm. Reach out to your own supports as you have a need to.
Well done keeping on the eating plan.
hugs and prayers for dsil and your entire family.

Harriet... I have been putting cocnut butter in Sweeties smoothies. It is delish. I could eat it by the spoonful. It looks thin but placed in your mouth it gets sticky. However there is little taste in a smoothie. I use it to add healthy fats. You can put it on bread but you only need a little and it has a very mild taste. Someone recommended it to me and I’m glad I tried it.

I got a hay seed out of dogs paw, and she was able to do half of my long walk with me I am so pleased to have my walking buddy back again at least for a short distance.

Shopping and some walking was my exercise yesterday.
Today I mowed for my exercise.
