Health and Fitness, December 2018

Postby Harriet » Sat Dec 01, 2018 3:42 pm

Welcome. This is a thread about gaining and maintaining strength for our wonderful calling, homemaking. As we care for our own health, we grow more capable and competent to care for our families, our neighbors and our communities. As we grow more effective, our hopes for ourselves and those we care about get the best chance!

We're approaching the end of 2018. This will be the month in which we assess the year and also prepare any record-keeping or goals that we want to be in place by 2019.

What healthy 2018 habits or methods are "keepers" for you going forward?
Which ones do you need to reset?

My aim is to 'keep track' over here of days I actually do my cardiac rehab, minutes walked and 16oz glasses of water (albeit flavored a good share of the time). Takes me about 45 minutes of warm up, exercises and cool down, not counting the walking. That's a plus in my book. I've only done 11 days out of the last 18, so it's past time to 'get 'er done!' I know it will only result in a healthier me. Editing on Saturday to say: My Cardiac consists of 'warm up exercises' (that I learned at cardiac rehab), 4 minutes on the wall pulley, 150 steps on the stair stepper (that's really pushing it for me), 25-30 minutes on the pedal exerciser -which is heavy duty, then my cool down exercises which are the same as the warm ups.

1) Monday, Dec 3: Cardiac rehab, 3- glasses of water, steps walked: 2,500
2) Tues, Dec 4: Cardiac rehab, 4- glasses of water, steps walked: 6,000
3) Wed, Dec 5: Cardiac rehab, 4 glasses of water, steps walked: 4,000
4) Thurs, Dec 6: Cardiac rehab, 4 glasses of water, steps -6,000
5) Fri, Dec 7: Cardiac rehab, 4 glasses of water, steps -2,500
6) Sat, Dec 8: Cardiac rehab, 4 glasses water, steps -4,500
7) Sun, Dec 9: Cardiac rehab, 3 glasses water, steps -2,000 (so far)

Brrrrr!!!! 27 degrees out this morning when I left to run. Just a few more days of this and we will be above freezing overnight again. Makes for a faster run though. :)

I've gotten in 25K steps in the last two days. I'm not sure where this energy is coming from but I'll take it. Eating is ehhhhh, ok.

WTG, Twins'! The energy comes from getting out in the fresh air and moving. Well done. Making better choices in eating will follow naturally.
Where is Dee's check in? We need to be cheering her on too.

So glad you were able to check in, Dee. Good job doing your exercise even though you had a busy day.
