Harriet...

I’m doing PT on Willis, does that count. His left shoulder muscles have atrophied due to his Valley Fever and is extremely sunken in.

I’m trying very hard to build those muscles up but it’s very slow going. Vet says the more he uses it the stronger it will get, but at 114* here today and most other days with high temps walking him is impossible. I do swim him, but he lonely uses his 3 legs and just lets his left front leg drag. However he does have to use it to push off the steps to get out which the vet says is good for him.

Nutrition is important as my vet says protein and fat will help rebuild the muscle but Willis has become more finicky than a cat when eat!!!

However since February I’ve been able to get him to regain 6 lbs. We were at the vets on Tuesday and Kern, my vet, said Willis’ recovery is nothing but remarkable. I felt like a kid being praised by a parent because I have so much respect and admiration for her.

Now I am also putting a heating pad on Willis leg and shoulder for 15 minutes twice a day and then I massage it after that.

It will be interesting to see how close the PT is for humans and dogs.

When Norma contacted Valley Fever this past winter, both she and Willis were on the same meds

Day 8

Well my injury has kept me from getting my steps in, but I am down 5 lbs.

That means I’m .8 lbs from winning my diet bet and 3.8 lbs from my next personal goal.

I stayed on my eating plan even though I was hurting and was concerned the strong pain meds would effect my progress.

I am shooting to make my next personal goal for next Monday. Not sure I can make it, but doing so will keep me focused and motivated.

Today I turn in my eating plan to Jason. I made my daily promise to drink 48/84 ozs of water and get in 10K steps. Can do the water but not the steps at the moment, but considering how I feel will try to get in as many as can today.

Have a pair of pretty earrings ready to order after I loose my first 10 lbs :D

Day 9...

I am down another pound and have unofficially won my diet bet.

Going to order my earrings because I figure by the time they get here I will have reached my 10lb marker.

Bought much needed new running shoes yesterday... once I’m healed I plan on becoming an early morning mall walker. It’s much cooler there than being outside, plus there are bathrooms which is a plus for me at my age :D

WTG, RR!

I made my step goal today and yesterday, and made the weekly goal for the last three weeks, I think.

Harriet, I think you have mentioned taking an algae supplement. Would you mind telling us what you are taking? I think blue-green algae sounds really pretty, but it sounds like it will poison you, so that's obviously not a good choice. :D
