August - Food and/or Exercise Log

It is a new month and we can start all over again!!!

My goals are: Stay between 1,000 and 1,200 calories, walk 6 days per week for at least 3/4 hour (hopefully 1 hour by end of month), do strength building exercises on M, W, & F, belly busting exercises on T, R & S. Blood Sugar is +/- points from goal. Weigh in every Thursday. Sundays are a Day Of Rest (DOR) from exercising.

Stayed on food program: 7/31, 8/1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Oops 8, Oops 9, 10, 11, 12, Oops 13, 14 (ate salad at lunch so I could have Chicago hot dog with all the stuff for dinner), 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, Oops 28, 29, 30.
Going to start logging food as I realized I am off base on this.

Walked: 8/1, (DOR - 2), 3, 4 (I did the whole hour today!!), 5, 6, 7, Oops - Rain 8, (DOR - 9), 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, (DOR - 16), 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, Oops 22, (DOR - 23), 24, 25, Rain 26,Rain 27,28, 29, (DOR - 30).
It is still dark and cold when I would have to walk to get to work on time. So I am going to move my walk to the afternoon. I will report on it the next day as I do following my menu plan.

Strength Training: (DOR - 2 ), 3 (up to 2 sets of 10 reps for each exercise), 5, 7, (DOR - 9), 10, 12, 14, (DOR - 16), 17, 19, 21, (DOR - 23), 24, 26, 28, (DOR - 30),

Belly Busting: 8/1, (DOR - 2), 4 (up to 2 sets of 10 reps for each exercise), 6, 8,(DOR - 9), 11, 13, 15, (DOR - 16), 18, 20, Oops 22, (DOR - 23), 25, 27, 29, (DOR - 30),

Blood Sugar: +/- points from goal

When I started keeping track of my BS it was out of whack, so I set the goal high to be able to reach it. This month I have averaged 9 points under goal for the month so I am going to reduce it by 5. I am hoping to get it down to where the ADA suggests - but will take it in baby steps.

Weigh in: 8/6 = (-.4)
Weigh in: 8/13 = (+3.4) :cry:
Weigh in: 8/20 = (-4.2) :lol:
Weigh in: 8/27 = (+0.2)
Total for August = (-1.0)
Total since start in April -20.0 pounds.
Going to have to rethink some of my eating habits. Without logging each day I think they have gotten out of control just as my BS counts were. I'm going to start logging food again as I think more calories than I thought have started creeping into my life.

Waist size: 8/6 = Stayed the same. :?

I've been fighting a cold
and had hormonal happenings
have had to tweak my meds.
to stay on top of my blood sugar numbers
to try to get them in my target range.

Walking earlier, and before breakfast has helped
and due to the heat also has been helping too.

Emptynester, your at-a-glance recordkeeping is WAY efficient, plus good guidelines as example to others. 6 inches at the waist is fantastic. Proud of both you and Nancy for active blood sugar monitoring and consistent exercise. I can relate to "hormonal happenings".

I agreed to attend a T-Tapp clinic in Nov, so this will get me to start thinking recordkeeping and accountability myself. I was a little torn, not knowing what the future holds, especially for my parents. But this will be a good Calendar Event Goal for me. I need incentive and this way I'll feel obligated to increase and keep up my stamina so I'll get the benefits of the 4 hours of the clinic. Also don't want to embarrass myself even though I'll only know one or two people! Anyway, I'll map out a gradually increasing workout plan and report it soon.

This is a post I discovered yesterday from way back on one of the 'old' SHE boards. How many of you remember Sparkle? I do remember she had many, many months of daily exercise. This was her post from back then, one of my replies & a reply from her. It has motivated me, yet again to get out there and do daily exercise!

I also like MT's record keeping -especially the blood sugar goal +/- Can I adopt it? My BS counts have been horrible for way too long. I do know stress is a great factor in counts, but that's no longer an excuse.

I'm off to do at least 15 minutes walking.

I found when I didn't write down my BS, I wouldn't pay much attention to it. Now I try to turn the numbers green.

I used to say I would just listen to my body and I could tell where my BS was -- but then the out of range numbers became to feel normal as they oozed up. Now I have to look at the numbers.

Yes I remember sparkle!

Today I was picking berries in the morning for exercise
helped with my blood sugar too.
I did a walk also.

Found a couple pounds drat!
Hoping it's just water retention
from the heat I've been doing pretty
good at staying hydrated.

10th - 22 mins - runner's stretch, final part of Total workout
11th - Day Off; just a stretch and hoe-downs
12th - 20 mins - 1st part of Total workout, hoe downs
13th - 22 mins - working through middle of workout (then walking the mall!)
14th - 25 mins - finished to end of Total workout
15th - Day Off
16th - Day Off
17th - 20 mins - 1st part of Total workout, hoe downs
18th - 23 mins - working through middle of workout, hoe downs (also extra walking today)
19th - 22 mins - on to the end of workout
20th- 15 mins - 1st part of workout
21st - 22 mins - working through middle of workout
22nd - 22 mins - on to the end of workout
23rd - Day Off
24th - 15 mins - 1st part of workout (also extra walking today)
25th - 25 mins - something different - floor sequence "Torso Trimmer"
26th - Day Off
27th - 22 mins - working through middle of workout
28th - 25 mins - on to the end of workout
29th - Day Off, just stretch and hoe downs
30th - 15 mins of 1st part of workout, then extra walking

I had been scribbling this down every a.m.! Glad to finally get it posted.
Rotating through the 50-min T-Tapp workout, Total, about 20 mins at a time.
Getting in each move at least once every few days. Always start with the stretch.

WTG, Harriet, Dee and Nancy and all the others who are working hard at being healthy out there.

I am really, really discouraged right now. Two days off food plan and up 3.4 pounds. I just wiped out all my exercises from July 2 to now. I am so angry at myself. I want to go back to bed and when I get up dive into a bowl of chocolate ice cream.

But . . . I'm going to pick up my mp3, put on my shoes and go walk. I'll get this lard off me if it kills me.

I'd have some cheese with my whine - but it too many )%)%$*& calories.
