my Hosta's love the shade - I have some full shade areas and some dappled shade areas - my Hosta's need consistency of watering and with our recent drought I have had to really up my game lol.
I am so happy for you. I love the variegated edges too!
I have blue's and variegated.

I am definitely moving the one Hosta out of the front - our climate has changed and our rain is almost non existent which makes the Hosta unhappy!
thank you d harmony

hi d Nancy yay on your work in the garden... I also love a good tomato salad but mine is a caprese type sandwich - basil, mozzarella and a good garden tomato with salt and pepper on crusty French bread.

I found 6 little lime hydrangea's for the front of the house - I had torn out everything 2 years ago and couldn't find these. Yesterday I found a bunch of them - yay!

I think I have to weed (per week) by one zone at a time. The 15 minutes at a time in an area is not working. I think concentrating on thorough weeding each zone for one week will keep the garden in more control.

What I hope to accomplish today:
water pots :D
do dead heading throughout the gardens. some done ;)
continue cleaning up zone 3 - the inside garden :D
I will ask dh to help me move the hammock that dd younger bought to the back of the yard.

zone 3 is almost done -

what's left: remove flagstone under bench and give it a through weeding. I don't think I want the flagstone there anymore as no one sits there.
WEED
remove the lava stone dh put in and replace it with mulch

put some shade items in the one area.

--------------------------------
water everything that needs watering.

I removed the flagstone from under bench :D
I weeded in zone 3 :D
(I had to come inside at 3 as it became too hot).

today's hope: to spread out the dirt and mulch so that it is even again. :D
over the years the landscapers have been wood chips on top of that area to a point where it built up 6 " and the bench was in a low spot. the mulch rotted out the bottom of my garage wood (which now has to be replaced).

put the bench in the garage for me to sand and stain.

move the remainder of the bricks and flagstone in the back. :D

the landscaper came and moved all the dirt from the front to the back. (so sweet!) :D
send him a thank you note!

finish the gardening and weeding in this area for awhile :D

(lots of things got knocked down from the beautiful thunder boomer we had at 4 this morning)

If tomorrow is nice then I hope to do some painting on the house in zone 3

next week: zone 5
plant the little lime hydrangea
pull the vines
thin out the flower bed in front
order the bulbs for fall
remove the large hosta that became burnt by the sun
Sawz all the bush that died and cut out the root

put in the green mountain
put in the winter berry or boxwood

one of the young men who planted my trees asked if I needed help. He texted me yesterday and he is coming over this morning. He will give me a price for the beds.

he also planted the new bushes in back.

after breakfast - go outside and write down what I need from him. I really need the help and my landscaper doesn't have time. :D he did a beautiful job!
I will hire him again - very reasonable. :D :D

finished removing the lava rock dh loved - it is now gone!!!
one bag wood mulch in on that area - I have 4 more left and I have to plant the flowers in the pots for that area.

One of my blueberry plants died bc of the heat.

what is still needed in this area:
dog stuff
edge
plant the flowers in pots :D
fertilize pots of flowers
sweep :D
put away tools etc. :D
put wood chips on the even dirt. :D
put the halo dog wood somewhere.

Monday - a start of a new zone.
We had a massive thunderstorm last night and the land by us got a good soaking.

I have to leave zone 3 - inside the garden fence behind even though there is more to do.
I was going to just work on zone 5 today - front of the house but with the deep rain - I have changed my mind to zone 2 A,B,C as I need to thin out flower bed and weed.

Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday - I may be off of work as I have a molar being pulled on Tuesday. I don't do well with pain and bleeding on those things. I have a very low pain threshold and tend to get a migraine with teeth work.

I will also fertilize my flower pots as all the rain probably washed out the nutrients.

today order extra dirt and when that comes in - hire man to continue the work.

I spiffed up the patio area this weekend so I could paint there this week. It is cool & shady first part of the day.
I mowed the back yard this morning.

I feel like there is not enough time in the day or energy in this old body

Yesterday I trimmed the climbing rose again and tied it to the arbor and fence.
I did a lot of weeding of the grass that creeps
my cosmos that seeded itself has come back like a weed! If only my fox glove would come back like that.
the one fox glove I bought is the ugliest color - I am tempted to pull it but it's hard to pull things that are flowering.
I am making notes about moving some things in the flower bed.
I found many tomatoes that grew themselves. - I am tempted to move them but I know they will flop.

time to water soon :D and fertilized :D

I had a couple days off bc of molar being removed. I make a terrible patient. ;)
I still hurt today and last night was nasty

dog dug up the Japanese maple which I will try to replant and see what happens.
I hadn't had time in putting down the caT MAT to keep her from digging that area.
