goal: tomorrow: sauteeing and caramelizing onions
supreme an orange (did a grapefruit instead) :D

this week that I really liked to make for dfamily: tortilla soup, mexican hay stack, supreme orange
(cucumber watercress)tea sandwiches, provencal soup (just a vegetable soup made in crock pot) with pistou-basil,parmesan, tomato paste, garlic, olive oil pesto topped with parmesan grated. (lasted all week)

something I learned: dd older has never liked baked beans never knew.
I am horrible at making breakfast for myself. (thinking I need to make things ahead)
I am terrible at planning lunch so i eat what is there rather than what is there and easy.

jan 20 to jan 27 2013 menu

Postby blessedw2 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 9:10 am

last week dd younger's cooking challenge was to make a New York Cheese cake - I like that she had made a goal and did it.dd17 is starting a food blog.
Everyone has different hobbies such as sewing and I love to cook especially for others - and I love learning to increase my skill in the kitchen - that's my hobby.

this week: check freezer and fridge for things to be used up, drink water water water

Soup for the week: Gazpachio (spelling) basically a cold tomato soup (page 10 jp) (I should of had a v 8 :D ) and sausage, potato and cabbage soup. (page 32 jp)

Meals: dinners
Sausage, Potato and cabbage soup (new recipe - it was AWFUL!!!) I will keep trying with different recipes , crusty bread, carrot salad (bacon, vinegar, onion, parsley - excellent), (last night)
left over beef w/compound butter for family, zucchini/corn dish page 325, Sunday
roasted veggies,1/2 cup brown rice, me fish, dd younger (?) Friday
chicken curry, rice (201) sunday

lunches and salads:
mozzarella and tomato salad, soup Sunday
cucumber salads,(made ahead)
grapefruit and avocado salad sounds terrible but very good (different feel)
egg boiled with a salad (mustard) 73 jp
tuna salad in lettuce, soup
dd younger: asking her what would she like for school

need to cut up strawberries, etc. for everyone to grab

breakfasts: oatmeal (made a head either in muffin form or just made ahead, apple tart, apple cheddar muffins, yogurt, grapefruit supremes (really easy - thought it would be hard), I need to use up banana's (banana bread for freezer)
goal for next week: making chicken stock in the pressure cooker (something new I heard about), learn to make one sauce (dd younger is making macaroons)

Blessed LOL! btdt with the non keeper recipes.

I saw Rachel Ray was doing meals for a week or something like that on her show yesterday.

I'm having one hb patty left over with eggs in a wrap for lunch today. Need to thaw 2 chicken thighs out for dinner to have with salad. H. got grapes biggest I've ever seen at the store yesterday.
