Art, Craft and Needlework, September, 2010

May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is wrapped in thoughtfulness, and tied with love. ~ L.O. Baird

Are you starting to think of gift-giving more now that the weather is showing signs of change, and the calendar is just a few pages from seasons of giving? Who in your life might be so fortunate as to receive a gift of something you’ve created yourself? blessed has posted the Holiday Grand Plan thread - can the time for rearrangement of your gift closet be far behind?

BookSaver has added 3 altered skirts to her wardrobe and spent two fun days helping a friend with a sewing project.
Nancy is crocheting in camouflage colors for her dgs. Her dgd is knitting.
Twins Mom showed us an owlfullly cute greeting card she made for friends.
Lynlee shared a crochet info site for our links section and delivered one handmade baby gift to her dd.
LisaB showed us the first quilt block of the table runner she is making and shared an online free apron pattern.
Indiana’s new grandnephew arrived – one of the happy reasons she’s been knitting. And she shared a link to shops.
Harmony is sewing covers, darning socks and wondering about functional short aprons.
Harriet showed the first pincushion made with dd12 and came up with some walker bag how-to sites with Nancy.
In the members-only section, photos were posted of helia’s dds’ pretty bag and bowl projects.

I'm looking forward to seeing your baby rug when it's finished, Lynlee.

I don't have a really good place to spread out dgd's quilt, so I took a picture of it on her new bed. It is ready to machine quilt and attach binding. I will send it up to her when it's done. (I hope I remembered how to resize it correctly:)

I called to dd12 to come look before she headed out for school. We love the quilt - beautiful colors. Your granddaughter is lovely. Dd12 was also admiring the bed. Great for you and dgd to have a tangible reminder of your time together over the summer. Didn't dgs ask you about a quilt for him? ;)

Lynlee, you are almost halfway there, then.

I spent some time yesterday cutting out more scraps for pincushions.

Great quilt and yes, your DGD is a lovely young lady. Know she'll always remember making this with you. What a sweet wonderful memory. Not only does she have the memory but something tangible and very useful to go with it. :D

Wow, Sunny, what a beautiful bright quilt you guys made. I'm sure she will treasure it and her summer with you guys. I'll bet it seems quiet there without them there. Let us know how the quilting and binding turns out.

Thanks, everyone for the nice thoughts about the quilt and dgd. I liked dgd's new bed also. It's from IKEA and it has a trundle frame that pulls out to make room for another mattress. She'll love having sleepovers.

Yes, dgs8 has told me several times I can make a quilt for him, too. He has showed me several fabrics he likes. I bought a pattern for a different design that I want to use for his quilt.
