holiday planning thinking ahead

Postby blessedw2 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 9:58 am

I am not sure how many days there until the holidays and I really don't want to look :D
but I know I have to get started on the outdoors for fall

Me: repaint garage
finish fence
call fence people to fix it.
paint lights
clean doors and paint front door again.
clean windows

presents to begin looking for: goggles dd13 for stocking stuffer
on sale swim towels
I usually buy pjs for dkids for christmas eve. but thinking I will get summer pj's on sale as money is short this year.

any thing you have to do?
it is always a joy to be here with you!

I bought lots of presents yesterday and good thing as the one thing my dd20 wanted is very popular. I have also learned to not give ideas away that are the special ones. I was going to give an idea to my dm but she is not into the joy of it as I am and I like getting the kids what they really want from dh and I

also bought some christmas stocking stuffers.
I need to call on something for dh and dd14 wants to order something for dh.

bought christmas cards and will do 3 a day.
I need stamps.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Turkey Thursday prep going on here.
We got a ham w/ small free turkey I think we will use
that for Christmas.
I've been knitting things up and have donated them to the shelter this week
they had a notice on the t.v. peg board that they were needed.
Boy it felt great to get that stuff out of here!

Simplifying our Christmas;
I have eliminated all but a
few of the decorations for Christmas
and love how it's simplified things for us these days!
The pre lit trees are wonderful no untangling lights saves us time
and energy!
Plus eliminated some stuff we've had to store.
Not having to put outside lights up is less worrysome for both of us too.
We also did this with the holiday meals and menus too.

I love the going green!

I wrapped the rest of the christmas gifts.
st. nick day items are done... simple ornament or christmas item. (my plan for next year is to give them both a christmas quilt with family information on it so I will start that in January... I already have an idea. it will be small like a babies quilt but with family information embroided in the quilt of their birth and family tree.)

still need to do:
we haven't pulled names yet so that is 4
my df likes dunkin donuts coffee so I will get a gift card
teachers: piano pilates school english tutor
mail man water man, dog, newspaper man
something else for dh

Just thinking it might be fun to have a poll about our biggest turkey and
best and worst moments during this season.
