Art, Craft and Needlework, February 2015

Postby Harriet » Sun Feb 01, 2015 6:46 pm

Whatcha Dooooin'? :D We're simply fascinated to know!

Here's the place to tell about creativity of all kinds. Also, how are you scheduling creative time? What kind of storage or organization are you using? How have you noticed that your creativity is appreciated? What's your dream for next projects?

Feline Friend has been crocheting a tunic with shell stitch skirt and ruffle for her granddaughter.
Nancy's washing and blending wool, mohair and silk roving to spin, & knitting in mauve for herself.
BookSaver finished school uniforms for Haiti, & poured creativity into a library Fancy Nancy party.
Twins' Mom has been organizing her cardmaking supplies, labeling & using photos for quick access.
Harriet organized pressed flowers into CD cases and started sketching a fireplace screen hanging.

I joined the tunic front to the back today, I'm blocking it again, so it'll look better. I've crocheted the 4 shoulder ties, will join them onto the tunic tomorrow. It's sure cute.

I want to finish the last 9 inches on DGD's Empire dress and assemble it.

I crocheted DGS-almost-6 a snake today; need to do his puppet next.

Plan on working on my hat/scarf set after the DGD's & GDS's crochet are done.

Also, want to work on spa baskets for 2 dfriends, too. Will fill 1 basket with crocheted facecloths, for my friend turning 100, and for the other friend, I'll purchase a nylon scrubbing puff, for the spa basket, 1 bar of soap, perhaps a decorative candle, and I cannot think of anymore things. Perhaps some shower bath gel? :?: I'd love to go to Walmart, to buy my things. If I like what I see, perhaps I'll get some things for my 100-year-old-soon dfriend, too, or for another friend, who's b-day's in June.

On account of my eye issue, I won't be crocheting the Empire dress (which would be dress #3!) by the party in mid-February, but I'll aim to finish it in early April, when we'll see DGD-2 again. I'm not crocheting DGS-6 a puppet either, since he's getting a crocheted snake, hat, and $50. I'm giving them enough, as it is. I want to crochet our kitchen mats again, to have a variety instead, which are "no-brainer" or "brain-dead" crochet projects. I want to relax and not need to concentrate on difficult patterns right now.

I finished attaching the shoulder ties onto the pink tunic today. Go me!

I'm cutting back on crocheting for the grandchildren, on account of time restraints. It has nothing to do with the eyes. My eye specialist said that I don't have any restrictions of any type, can travel, etc... He said only to stop anything, which can cause me to have flashing lights. Crochet does not bring on flashing lights. Crochet is an outlet, it's very therapeutic, and since the specialist said there are no restrictions, other than stopping what causes flashing likes, I'll continue to crochet. If it was an athletic hobby, where I was playing tennis or something where my head was being thrown around, then I'd stop.

:D I crocheted a dark purple bun cover. It's so festive and pretty. I took off my pink bun cover and put on the purple one to match my purple, lavender and pink striped turtleneck.

I'm THRILLED I CAN CROCHET because it does *NOT* cause flashes of light. I'll stick to my eye specialist's orders. This crocheting is very relaxing, it's an outlet, it is doing something good, healthy and positive for me, and it's therapeutic. There are not any lights flashing, while I do it, my eyes don't even strain, so I'll be crocheting since I love to. ♥ ;)

I crocheted 3 bun covers, they turned out quite nicely and made a kitchen mat, too. I enjoy crocheting very much.

I printed up some kerchief and babushkas patterns this evening. My hair's been falling out for several months, due to the acquired Hypothyroid being "off". I thought I could wear kerchiefs on my head at home, puttering around. I don't want to buy or care for an expensive hot-on-the-head or time-consuming-to-style wig. They're too itchy and too hot in the summer.

Does anyone know if a lacy-looking little skull cap might be a good bet, for a summertime cover-up, too? :?: I guess I could give that the old Girl Scout try, too.

I have canvas sun hats, 1 straw one and a few baseball caps, to use, too. ;)
