Trying to get 2017 calendar refills is a challenge this early. Sigh.

I had a ideal christmas planned but I am enjoying my "I'm not decorated christmas yet time". I have a merry christmas wreath at the front door. We are getting our tree Wednesday (bc everyone wants to do it :D - no nagging on my part) It's been really really nice. We still have the christmas spirit without all the stuff around us. I got rid of the pressures this year.. yes I want to go to zoo lights, go to the CSO and listen to holiday music, do Christmas tea and decorate the house from head to toe but it hasn't been important this year. Our lives are busy and it's ok.

things that did make christmas
our usual tickets to the Christmas carol
took d mom with us to buy the merry Christmas wreath and a tree that is going outside (it was way to early to buy one but we did it for her)
got my uncle a small fake tree that we put up and put a merry christmas wreath at his house.
getting most of my Christmas shopping done. and what may seem seem silly to some but I got all the people who help us their tips early - it made me feel good to thank the people that help make our lives easier.
having lots of at the table talks with dh and the girls -(dd older is looking for an apartment after Jan 1 but for now I am enjoying her home)

I didn't donate the world a bunch a money i didn't have... I tend to do this - I have said no without too much guilt this year because I know there is only so much I can do financially. I stuck to most of my budget as well.

Tree is up, cards & gifts are off in the mail. Have been making my own planner pages in pencil each day from pages I punched or found at the thift shop. Doing bullet journal style daily page now I have enough pages for a couple mo. If I have not gotten a diff. Option will just do a bullet journal again.

Christmas recap:

Extremely stressful because time was limited but absolutely wonderful.
Money was tight because of paying first for elders that normally would go to Christmas

Next year:

we are decorating (except for tree) in November if my schedule is like this year.
Also certain presents have to go back to being bought in September. Little things... like dd younger loves dot journals. dd older loves victoria secrets under garments (b ra's)
bake early (if we want)

save money again starting in January - a struggle but important

some alleluia moment: dd older finally learned she has to plan ahead for Christmas - she has always been on me for being prepared too early - (not this year though) and she found out that now some gifts are hers to get that waiting to the last minute is especially difficult.

I learned that not making a trip for this holiday meant a whole lot less stress. I do not know what we will do with this information in the future.

DD2 brought down about 6 cookie tins I've given her over the years, and said she hoped she'd be getting them back in years to come, filled of course. Maybe I never should have started that tradition so many years ago.
