Art, Craft and Needlework, March 2020

Postby Harriet » Sun Mar 01, 2020 9:29 pm

"Show 'n Tell" moments can be happy times! Will there be any for you to enjoy in March? ( OR have you had one lately?)

Nancy mentioned having a white dishcloth in her bag for show 'n tell with knitting friends. What a joy to pull out a sweetly stitched all-white creation!

Sometimes it buoys our spirits to be able to show our creative sides. Sometimes we're not even thinking we've done well, yet lo and behold, someone likes it! Or, perhaps (and even better) takes it to heart for a cuddle or long speculation ("How did you do that!?!)!

Strangely, sometimes we're underappreciated. How odd. :? So that's definitely the time to come here and tell!!!

In February :
Twins' Mom made sure of some show 'n tell moments as friends receive her creative cards.
BookSaver planned to design character puppets & props for library puppet shows ('n tells)
..... (kitties will be comforted by future cuddle - they can't "tell", but we know)
Nancy tucked a show 'n tell away. One of many hot pads and dishcloths she's been making.
blessed felt inspired in her plan to keep on balancing work and creativity. (Both "show"!)
Harriet made a scroll for show 'n tell children's messages, and kids read verses aloud.

I have completed a shades of blue and green hot pad to go with the other one.
I am looking forward to seeing how the dish cloths turn out.

Finished the dish cloth not liking the uneaven stripe effect that yarn did on this project but noow I kno w. It was great on hot pads so I will keep doing those.

I had the nicest idea for a craft for the SS children. Had bought the little pieces of tissue paper that will "run", to make "stained glass" with waxed paper. Hmmm... .. I thought of sending the materials to them through the mail. Don't know about that, though. Like I told one of the uncles, I have very good intentions, but the time, I don't have. Perhaps I will save it all until we see each other at church again. But... .. wow.

These are some uncharted-territory decisions. I don't think the SS teachers in my heritage had to think of this! I don't want to lose touch and do want to be a part of the solution for the children, but then I can't keep up that kind of dedication every week for ... .. how long (?), and would eventually feel guilt and have to disappoint.

I need to (should) sent some of my cards.

In the last couple of years, I've knitted and crocheted and made a couple of tops.

Sewing: 4 tops and a skirt.

Knitting: 3 shawls, a turban, a hat and 2 pairs of socks - 3rd pair of socks on needles.

Crochet: working on two blankets.

Cross stitch - frogged a fairy as lost place and pattern. Started a violet fan picture - current wip.
