Art, Craft and Needlework, December 2021

Postby Harriet » Wed Dec 01, 2021 12:26 pm

Sunny posted a happy finish to a long-term project last month! Congrats!

Finishing is often the obstacle, isn't it? ;) Wonderful when we get past it.

We're finishing up a year that has given us yet more obstacles in the way of cheeriness, but hopefully being creative has given us outlets.

How does your creativity cheer you in the face of adversity, like, for instance, a pandemic (just to give an example  ) ?

Is there a smile when you pick up that paintbrush, pen, needle, scissors?
Do you feel calmer or more centered when you sit down with your basket, easel, drawing pad or even sewing machine?

Do you have advice to give here for the pandemic doldrums?

Breathe when I do yarn crafting. Saw some purple & pink ombre yarn that was tempting yesterday, I resisted it.
Bc saw only 2 not 3 that I needed.
Doing up hot pads red & white ones are done, started blue & white ones.
I have a couple of knit prayer shawls done but did not do anything with em cept put em in the linnen closet bc of c19.
Bought one piece of fabric for pants hopfully can seam up soon.

Fabric is to soft for pants.

I have been crafting painted jars with green trees and glitter for a fun project.
not sure what to put in them
apx. 2 doz. glass peanut butter jars that have been cleaned and de-labeled.

I put a fun list sew a seam, paint something meaning a craft fun thing not walls, on my planner as well as knitting crocheting yarn crafting,
it is good for when it is too cold to go outside and do stuff in the yard. This counts as me time especially when I do not want to go to town
and be around crowds. I did this in pre-pandemic years too. I used to retreat to the craft - sewing area when I needed solitude now I have the whole house!

Started another ascot scarf this one is beige. It is done.
I was hoping to get some holiday prints discounted for a vest to wear next year on ugly sweater day! Nope that did not happen.
The beige scarf is past the halfway point now. But I have a cmas shirt.

Looked over my sewing planner for the new year I seem to have a block I want to red and green but only have spring colors here now.

Yesterday I got three bundles of fat quarters.
One is of animal prints several have Llamas on them.
I will do some gift bags and not sure what, scarf or hair scrunchies.
Made up four Llama print gift bags.
Others are Christmas prints nut cracker and others.
I got them pressed. The Christmas ones are for a holiday vest.

I started another ascot scarf pink white lavendar & burgandy ombre mix.
I will do up a prayer shawl as well after I finish the scarf I will cast on the prayer shawl.
Some time next week I think.
A cold snap is coming.

The fabrics sound so interesting, Nancy.

I've done more organizing of my sewing things. There is such tight space. Difficulty in storing it all.

I've even misplaced the very fabric I was going to work with next on small curtains. Sigh.
