Art, Craft and Needlework, July, 2022

Postby Harriet » Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:19 pm

There is no right or wrong when it comes to making art.
Making sure that you have fun is the most important part.
Splash a little paint. Draw a little line.
Just make sure that you have fun each and every time.

Got a thrifted crochet triangle shawl, it neeeded ends woven in.
I took out some on the final row because lkack of yarn it is not noticable!
Happy to finish this up! It is in fall colors.

I am using my spinning wheel to spin up some wool that I have been keeping in the closet in my creativity room.
It takes up way less space if it is spun up.
Two bags done, another to card up.
At least of this heathery grey as I am blending dark with lighter wool.

I have another project roving I will card & eventually spin up cream & blue.
The carding I am doing is by hand.
Great for stress relief.

I finished hot pad #4 last one in this batch yea!

I have started knitting up a self striping rainbow colored prayer shawl.

Got another hot pad started I want to see how many I can make out of a cone of yarn.

Puppet project is done! Wa-hoo! Yea! *\/*
I have 15 puppets in a drawer smiling up at me until needed. Cmas in July project is a success.

Paused the knitting project to finish up on a couple other things ahead of it.
Hot pad project done 5 is the number you can get out of a cone of yarn.
Restarted kint rainbow colored scarf 1/3 rd of the way done.

Granny sq. project hit a snag when I realized I's used up most of the yarn for this one.
So I am thinking on what to do about that and if I need to get more & what color if I do.

At library with dd42, I learned about their plans for "Chronicles of Yarnia", :D which will be a Wed afternoon group for "conversation, help with a knitting project and to learn about library resources". I didn't see that they included other yarn crafts. But our family crochet enthusiast, dd23, works every Wed afternoon anyway.

They're also teaching "Mending" one day late this month. They will teach sewing on a button and whipstitching. And "Upcycling" once a month, although that's mystery projects, so really just for laughs. Anyway, I didn't know the library had gotten so crafty!

Oh, Nancy, what a wonderful "visual"! Great job.

I am SO excited! Got a triangle shawl pattern figured out and got it going peach white and teal 6" stripes apx.
I have been wanting to do up one of these for years and could not get the pattern right so glad I got this one going.
I have the first color stripe done and the next one started, and got the 3rd color today. Yea!

Got pj fabric and it has been pre-washed and in the dryer.
Next I need to get the pattern done again.
I have a roll of brown paper to do a pattern on that is my next step.

The solution for the granny square project, I bagged it up and gave it to dgd for her or her granny,
step mom or step sisters they all crochet she was very tickled! I put crochet hooks in it too!

My practice piece is improving but still a disappointment.
More learning ahead, I need to add stitches between clusters I think.
This has been a great project for junk yarn!

ripped out that one and have restarted it looking better at least in the beginning.
