Art, Craft and Needlework, October, 2022

Postby Harriet » Sat Oct 01, 2022 4:00 pm

Here we are, entering the fourth and final quarter of 2022!

We started last month considering CEO's many organization helps over the years
Nancy sewed nite dresses and stitched a shawl, asked about craft planning
Harmony discussed craft planning/records and patterns for those nightclothes
blessed came in to encourage!
Harriet stayed in her mending basket for herself and dd

What are your upcoming plans for October?

Does anyone do creative things for Halloween? We need to contact Elizabeth and ask her about her costume and her dd's! She was always a cut above in her imagination for those things.

Do you dress up? Decorate?
Are you well into gift-giving ideas for the year?

Do tell!

The Holiday Grand Plan would have us continuing to work on potential gift-giving creativity during the month, at the rate of one hour a day if desired.

My main goal is to cut out and get a lining for a Christmas vest pre printed to seam up before the ugly sweater theme day at church this year. Soon as I get over this bug.

Had to mend a bit.

Tried on the pj's I pined before hemming them now I can hem those might do them by hand.

I mended a vest with a butterfly applique! Pleased with the results.

I have 26 granny squares done now.

Knitting project is nearing the halfway point.

I counted and had 47 granny squares and made three more getting the count up to 50. I am thinking I am halfway done with enough for
this current project.

I am up to 75 gr. sq. and 15 left to do now.
Thinking 90 should be enough to complete a project.

I have made 90 plus 10 more ge. sq. and I am sure there are extras that did not get counted!

Got the triangle shawl assembled it took 56 4" gr.sq. looks good ends still need to be worked in.

dd24 does want us to create a potential card this year, so I researched and brainstormed her questions to me about "what Mom's looking for". So far, I pulled together sets of examples for colors, for drawing types, for subject matter. We agreed on digital art this time for saturated color. Her watercolor was lovely one year, but a little too dreamy-soft to hold attention. She hopes to have a drawing within a week, then will start trying out colors. When I see what she comes up with, I'll decide on wording and then we'll arrange getting it printed. We've done this 4 times before, but it's always a little more trouble and a little more time-consuming than we think. Hoping it won't be too tiring.
