Art, Craft and Needlework, March, 2024

Postby Harriet » Fri Mar 01, 2024 10:12 am

We traditionally think of March as winds

'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*' ✯ ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*' ✯ ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*' ✯ ˏˋ°•*⁀➷

blowing outside like a lion's roar! (right now, that's definitely my weather!)

We think, maybe we should stay indoors a while longer and snuggle in with some creative projects! (smile - not really a problem)

When you are glad to be indoors, what is your favorite creativity?

What creative project will you wait to do because the weather will need to cooperate?

It is frosty out and I had to double check that it was not snow.
I like to work with yarn & writing inside.
I got the ends woven in and cut off on the prayer shawl I've been working on knitting up.
Next is to crochet edging around it.

Got my paint mixed up the other day .
Got the jar opened up.
Painted the 1st coat on a small project.

Just in time to report that I should receive a shipment of stamping supplies today!

New supplies are inspiring!

Nancy, I hope your newly mixed paint inspires you!
What color - Is this the blue?

Twins', I hope your shipment of stamping supplies inspires you!
Any specific type this time? A direction you are going?

The creativity that's waiting on the weather, for me, is planning for flowering plants. Thinking a lot about height, so that they will not hide each other this summer. Planning for across the front of my house and for the back door area - maybe the front of the new little storage building this year. And for the front of dd's new house, where they are inheriting a garden bed between walkway and porch. Both our fronts slope down to the road, so I want to keep any color from disappearing from view behind something taller.

Do ya'll ever plan on paper anymore or do you just "see" that sort of thing in your heads? I used to even use graph paper, I loved the planning so much, but that was when I had a lot of beds and we had a tiller.

For now, I am cozy with fabrics while March makes up its mind. I've finished the 32 three-piece units. Next will be sewing them together with one more piece, to make 16 seven-piece units. Not all of this is assembly-line, but enough of it is, so that it's pretty calm work, not as puzzling.

Harriet The paint was a like blue think baby blue but a bit lighter.
I painted white on a chair first coat is on it.

I did some shell stitching edging on the prayer shawl that I am currently doing.
One end is done now, taking it slow with this.

I have finished the prayer shawl shell stitching and that whole project is complete now!

Found a three tiered shelf to paint while I was thrifting today.

I'm not feeling particularly inspired these days with stamping. Nothing seems to look satisfying to me. I tend to push around card stock and designs until something works and I'm feeling like it's not working. Maybe not enough extended time on it?

Twins' - Pinterest.
Or similar glimpse into card and other creation. Sometimes a youtube search can drag you into creative surprises.

It's good, I think, both because it makes you smile to see an idea that would also adapt to your own plans, BUT ALSO because you see things you KNOW you could do as well or better, and you get a little bit triggered healthfully challenged.

LOL, Harriet, I save a lot of template instructions and images to Evernote. And then there's Pinterest of course. Why do I forget these things?

I just watched a vid. on Nature Journaling and he had a lot of great books, and idea of doing that with out
the book part with vid. or a camera. I did a garden journal one year such fun.
Harriet it made me think of your daughter with new home what a great time to log progress of things in the yard & garden for her.

I have completed another set of hot pads to go with dish cloths they are in a zip lockbag.
Just two more hot pads to make for this batch.
Had a goal of 12 sets this will be ten, but I can do more in the following months now as I'm not doing other knitting now.
