Oct. CARDS 2O16

Postby Nancy » Sat Oct 01, 2016 8:58 am

What are your Oct. cards? Do you have fall decor to get up. Holiday prep. to do. Crafts for fun, gifts to make, costumes to sew, pies to bake, leaves to rake.

blessed, cards sure do simplify things just when we need it.

Trying to size up October for our household.

More decorating for fall would be nice, but first I'd better be sure I've gotten just the general cards done.

Our hot water heater really needs replacing pretty soon. I don't know what that will entail. This time we may have an interior wall-mount (it's outside right now). I need to put that off just a little, so that an incoming check will be in the bank before we get the bill!

Sounds like dd36's family will be coming for Halloween weekend. I don't know if we can fit in everything we want to do that weekend, with her grandmother recovering in rehab and my church responsibilities and our hope of her being able to see some other family she hasn't seen in a couple years. To tell the truth, I wish we could go to the Renaissance Festival like we did once before for Halloween, but I think that may just be too much.

Nancy, another thing I use for children this "apple time" of year - those apple cutters that you push down from the top of the apple or pear and it cuts slices and cores it. My grandkids plus rest of the family loves this and it will get the boys to eat fruit. The boys say it makes a flower shape, especially a pear, when it's set out for everyone.

What we like for these boys is that it separates each slice well from the others so the boys' hands don't touch each other's pieces. ( No: "He touched my food!!!"  ), and we've taught them to hold the metal slicer, not the apple, when they pull a slice away. Dd36 didn't have one and I bought one for her and by the time I got it to her they are so easy to find she'd gotten one already. You need a plate without high edges to be able to push down all the way without the handle catching on edges.

I'm about to have so many children when dd's family is here that I need to put two of these out at a time.

My Laundry card is so pitiful! A week without laundry getting done makes it look bare!
