Winter done: Spring 2024 cardfile/focus weeks

Postby blessedw2 » Tue Dec 05, 2023 12:03 pm

the only time I really do well in my home is when I work on my card file dailies, weeklies and monthlies as well as my focus days and weeks.

I have been off of my card file for a long time. summer knocked me for a loop.

dailies: bathroom swipe.
mom feed and give meds after picking her up or feeding her there. I find her dementia is worse when she stays by herself.
She insists that she will not join the buildings events.
if she comes back her to live permanently then I will go with her to her events.

Hi, blessed. My cardfile is primary for my household dailes, weeklies, focus etc., too. It's a "this is how we do things" asset! Or maybe a "Who's In Charge Here?" one (answer, the cardfile, lol). But I do keep to rotation rather than set in stone, so that it is forgiving and cheerful. The cardfile tells me what is next up.

I think my planner is more a diary for the household, like a reminder of what happened that day (or was supposed to happen as far as times of appts, etc., and then what REALLY happened, lol). I use a lot of little post it notes for things that I know are changable.

I hope you don't mind that I put "Winter 2023" in the title here so your thread can take us along longer. I think the holidays kept us all off schedule.

Amen to that, blessed and Harriet! I may not actually follow my cards — life just gets in the way a lot around here — but if I didn’t have the cards, I’d never keep up with anything!
Christmas will FINALLY be packed up tonight before I go to bed, and MAYBE I can get back to “normal” — or whatever that is for us.
Tomorrow is another day.

I think I will call my card file the "whose in charge" card file! I like that
I like that you have a rotation instead of it being set in stone. That is a kind and forgiving way to work the card file - very positive! I like that.

I love the title of Winter

d Lucy I totally agree that without my cards; I wouldn't be able to keep moving forward.
yay on your Christmas being put away.

I am trying to focus on my weeklies and staying with the put away that always seems to need doing!

today is bill/desk day!
bathroom is supposed to be done for zone but I have a lot of the I don't wanna's with this zone (that and bedrooms). I find it terribly boring. I can see I need an attitude change and just start on something).

I have been loving d lady's one hour card file work!
My goal is to try to emulate her!

today is supposed to be:
kitchen/laundry room day
exercise
dog play and exercise on the hour
zone: garage and 3 season room

extras:
5 minutes per room
but it is most likely that the one bedroom will be 15 minutes for put away

I am super tired but I have 2 lists

what I should do & and what I need to do.

I should get out in the yard but it's cold and I am tired. (maybe do 5 minutes an hour when I go out with the dogs)

Today is Friday - usually means family room weekly jobs

What I need to do:
exercise and stretch
dogs physical and mental exercise
make dinner

5 minute room by room (no more)

pulled one kitchen duty cards: superficially clean the fridge

I am struggling on staying focused today - anything new
I have a card file but struggling to stay focused on them.

I figure I will post here all that I do so that I can stay on task without driving everyone crazy. Everyone is so sweet and I know they wouldn't mind but again my mind goes into ADHD mode when I go there (my hope is to do an hourly check in).

all the small stuff will be here as well -

1. list botanic word of the day and definition: A- prefix meaning without as in APETALOUS - lacking petals. :D

2. list latin word of the day and definition: Acanthus - fun facts -1. it is derived from the greek word Akantha meaning thorn. 2. in greek mythology the Nymph Acantha was desired by Apollo. Acantha scratched Apollo on the face to stop his advances. Apollo, being vengeful, turned her into a spiky plant. :D
3. this plant is carved in many Greek architectural columns and in other areas :D https://buffaloah.com/a/DCTNRY/a/acan.h ... 0countries. 4. the plant itself (also called bear breeches), has a very long taproot and can grow to 4 feet for some plants. most common is Acanthus spinosus (having spikes, thorns). it needs a dryer soil and sun. Problem - difficult to get rid of the long taproot

3. shower :D
4. throw laundry in
a. sheets :D in dryer now
b. blankets
c. darks
d. dog blankets
e. whites washed :D
5. be grateful
6. turn dw on :D
7. order groceries :D even though it would be cheaper to go myself.

other card jobs:
use scrubber on tile walls in girls bathroom surface only :D add card again for next Tuesday
(add card to have someone give me a price on new sliding doors and someone to to caulk the marble bottom area again)
clean around toilets - not great but done next week will be another day :D
move the things in the laundry room so that I can wash the bottom of walls
clean windows best you can :D
wipe things :D in bathroom
wipe doors not great but swiped :D
clean shower bottom :D
make the valentine
made dinner :D
need to clean up from dinner :D

Wednesday, Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2024

Wednesday is supposed to be bill paying, letter writing, toss what ever paper is no longer needed
It is also anti procrastination day but I think I want to procrastinate and put it to next week. (no heavy duty thinking or work today).

today is Ash Wednesday - I think I may go to the 4:00 service but I am not sure.I always worry that I will bring back something that may make dh sick.
I didn't even get my valentines day cards done!

singing: let it go, let it go as it is a simple go through the closets day.

what to do first:

1. make valentines day card for dh, dd's - I will keep dd Youngers here. :D
1 a. clean up after craft :D
2. Botanical latin word of the day ABBREVIATUS, abbreviata, abbreviatum, meaning shortened, straightens, abridged, cut off, contracted, narrowed. as in Buddleja abbreviata = buddleja parviflora :D
3. Botany dictionary book.: BACCA which actually means BERRY (they just like to make it difficult lol) example blueberry (vaccinium). :D
Indehiscent: not splitting open to release seeds when ripe: example Blueberry
4. Botanic Family word of the day: ERICACEA from the heather family - acid loving - examples: Azaleas, Rhododendrons, wintergreen, mountain laurel
blueberries, cranberries, vaccinia

hope:
bird seed :D
paper work day
bills day
5 minute shuffle
dark laundry :D
what's for dinner
cards weekly and monthly and outside work that can be done.

cards done: normally Monday job
vacuumed the inside of the dryer vent
cleaned outside of dryer and washer
cleaned sink, counter, microwave (as dh as been cooking things without a paper towel ;) , stove top
dry dishes put away
turned dw on :D
flip flopped laundry :D
vacuum and rinse kitchen again

it's only 4 pm and I am exhausted - trying to decide if I should do anything else
dogs are asleep as well which is odd for them.
