Routine Maintenance

Postby Harriet » Sat Aug 24, 2019 9:33 am

Are our routines due for a 30,000-mile checkup? ;)

Sometimes we need to look under that hood, and take our schedules in for some Routine Maintenance!

Here's a spot to chat about our routines - dailies, weeklies, specific prep routines.

Do you write down your routines? Do you delegate routine responsibilities? What are the line-items in your routine that you will NEVER do without? What's your best tip?

I've added some things to my evening routine but I can't say it's been a success. One was "Did I ck BP today? and "Did I stretch today?" I don't have to ck BP every day in the first place so I just check it off in the routine, and I have not been able to establish a stretching habit.

I primarily work an a.m. routine and p.m. routine. I have some "dailies" that I don't do everyday but I feel extra good when I can ck them off. They don't necessarily need done every day, strangely.

I should add things to my monthlies - these are things I can do anytime during the month (wash the car, clean out the little filter thing in the washing machine, and so on.)

I need to look at things here too. Surely this shouldn't be as hard as this to take care of the necessities of life and a home.

I have to get back to my daily routines. I know that is the secret to having a maintained home. I have ignored this since spring started bc I wanted and needed to work in the garden again. Unfortunately, not doing the routines makes my home really dirty bc of dog hair and living out of the house and not cleaning as I go.

I have to accept that I am not as strong as I used to be! I can't keep up which means that I have to make my home efficient again. moving everything out and then moving it in right at the time the garden was starting has made the house fall into CHAOS.

1. Find trash

I need to look into buying one of those rhomba type machines for the first floor

2. routine:
A. clean kitchen: sink, counters, stove, swipe fronts of appliances, put away (including vacuuming the kitchen)
B. family room spiff - put away, vacuum floor
C. laundry - wipe machine- vacuum floor - put away
D. powder room swish and swipe
E. dining room - wipe table, vacuum
F. family room - vacuum
G. front hall - put away and vacuum
H. bathroom: dh's just do a swipe, hall bath swish and swipe
I. dh's bedroom vacuum
J. cat litter check
K. pull dinner together - sloppy joes, salad, corn on the cob. make early.

after dinner:
swipe floors
clean kitchen
read/do something fun.
