FOCUS - Outdoors - 2/20/12 - First Round

Postby Indiana » Tue Feb 24, 2009 4:55 pm

Please note there is a new format for this thread from last year.

As we continue to maintain our homes, the key is maintaining our homes through out the year instead of a full deep cleaning once or twice a year.

Adjust the outdoors to fit your home.

Not all the things listed need to be done this round. Some may be done daily, weekly, monthly, every 3 or 6 months or yearly. Look at each area with fresh eyes to see what should be done this round.

Outdoors

As you do outside wash, rake, trim, pull, pick up and tidy outdoors.

Outdoors

  • Trash
  • Branches -
  • Weeds
  • Bushes
  • Trees
  • Fertilize
  • Plant
  • Grass seed
  • Mail box
  • Lights
  • Edge
  • Trim
  • Catalogs
  • Planning
  • Repairs – either repair or put on a list for the future
  • Buy – replacements or something new if needed
  • Declutter – kitchen (next focus area) and post accomplishments in Harriet’s declutter thread. This is a great opportunity and will make maintaining the closets easier.

Remember not all the things listed need to be done this round. Some may be done daily, weekly, monthly, every 3 or 6 months or yearly. Use the list as a guide.

The front porch is pressure-washed and most of the chairs have sealant sprayed on. We are not going to try to paint this year. A crack in the concrete has been patched - I guess that's worth it. Better, not perfect. The azalea has been pruned back from the porch rail - too much, I think, but I guess that's something that will grow back, so it's okay. It is important to try to protect the wood and paint there.

We still need to get to the missing brick at the back steps. I need to pull some fescue that's growing in through the stone mulch, then HRH needs to spray right there.

This is the final round.

It is also a good time to do any outdoor work before it gets much colder. Also with all the rain some of are getting it is good to take advantage of the first nice day.

Thanks I did rake leaves an hour yesterday.
Today swept some off the deck.
They are starting to fall now.
