Please note there is a new format for this thread from last year.

As we continue to maintain our homes, the key is maintaining our homes through out the year instead of a full deep cleaning once or twice a year.

Adjust the outdoors to fit your home.

Not all the things listed need to be done this round. Some may be done daily, weekly, monthly, every 3 or 6 months or yearly. Look at each area with fresh eyes to see what should be done this round.

Went 'round the countertops for a deep clean, everything off and inspected, lol!

Regret - top of fridge didn't get done this time. Making a note.

Washed all my dishtowels together when I had a small 'load' of half a dozen or so. I'm a stickler for keeping kitchen linens separate from bath. Sounds prissy, but I love to fold them in thirds and see that I have a nice stack in the drawer! Also how fresh and pretty they look hanging on the oven door. Anyway I realized I need to buy new some new ones - that will be pleasant purchasing! In the past I've gotten plenty for gifts, but that gift idea seems to have fallen from favor for some reason. (I think it's smart!) Plus I think I wear them out faster lately because I've grown more fastidious about switching out regularly and washing them. Last year this time I was interested in the types with clever hand-sewn tops that hang onto stove handles, for craft-gifts, etc. But I'm not sure they'd take as much washing, and most end up with only half the toweling left.

This is the first round for this year.

Don't forget to check expirations dates of spices, herbs, anything in the fridge and cupboards. There are four rounds so only one needs to be checked each round.

Did a deep-clean and re-assess around the kitchen in 15s. Hot spots vanquished and counters looking pretty and stress-relieving! Then we went shopping for houseguests' arrival. Sigh. I don't have enough storage space in my kitchen, for sure. Notice cabinets are storing a lot of boxed items we lost interest in after buying, like packaged potato, pasta and rice side dishes. Part of the reason may have been that they are not too healthy, so kudos to us for thinking that way BUT maybe I need to start using one every couple days to clear them out, and if there's really no interest in something, start a bag for the church collection.

Remember for next Focus round: clean: tops of upper cabinets

Remember for declutter appts: cabinet under corner counter, tall cabinet
