Cleaning 2021, First Round Focus through March 21

Postby Harriet » Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:44 pm

To easily find each other 8-) for chatting in current time, our current thread will always be FIRST in the line-up of topics in the forum. Our first round's calendar is in this post. The locked sticky threads about Focus Cleaning are just below, including the full 2021 Focus Cleaning Calendar for planning.

A consistently clean home is within reach! It's not that we need to clean everything suddenly  it's just that we need to clean some consistently throughout the year :) we know that. Focus gives us one idea for an already-complete plan of rotation to keep us on track and keep each lovely area from neglect. We don't have to re-invent the wheel, just roll along with the one we have at the ready, a week at a time.

Here's a space to chat about our first rounds through our homes, which will be from Monday, Jan 4 through the week of Monday, March 15. Eleven rooms/areas for eleven weeks. Change the room or area names around to suit your home, record them in personal record-keeping if you want, in whatever form you'd like, and let's go through the house once!

If you are on a different plan for cleaning, please chat with us anyway, okay? We'd love to hear what you are doing through these months. To find some reminders and tips about rooms, check out the locked thread titled, The Eleven Focus areas and their How-To-Clean Notes. The contents listing there is clickable and you'll go right to the room you click.

This is me not cleaning the porch it is too cold outside.
Trying to remember where I left off with fall stuff last things I did in this round last year got skipped. Because of the... stuff.
I will leave it at that. I have been trying to do some catch up this summer to get on track... I have done some on the bedrooms.

Each time we move into "office" I always have the same difficulty - the decluttering from the last week hasn't yet helped enough to get down to surfaces I can clean! It's never enough time! So I end up continuing with decluttering more before I can clean.

The same this time, although there is definite progress in that 10 cubic feet of materials, papers, files and paraphernalia related to church treasurer went out the door to the new treasurer. Without dd I couldn't have carried it - well, I'd have had to make many trips out the door.

I do have two file drawers ready for vacuuming that are to a point of cleanability that they haven't reached in years - also a standing file. So neatness will let me spread out and clean more this time, let's hope. Also just generally more possibility of getting TO surfaces.

I was pleased to have kept things very nice for the incoming treasurer, keeping things like the stamp and ink neat and clean (can you keep ink clean - well, you know what I mean), having the pens with the church name on them still at the ready, that sort of thing.

I’m still struggling sooo much with everything.
Can’t get WHB done really, much less the ZONE!
I should be in the computer room this week, so I guess that’s “office” here as well. (But really, the kitchen table is my office, LOL. And we have a “study” but only DH uses it. He does taxes and stuff there.)

Anyway — I am so glad to see you posting, Harriet! You’ve been MIA a lot lately!
Tomorrow is another day.
