((((Kathryn)))) I wish the concussion symptoms would just go away, but from what little I know it doesn't usually work like that. I understand the frustration when someone implies that you can just make it go away if only you tried hard enough. ARGH!

My DSis has told me a several times that DS10 is faking having Tourette tics. REALLY? I am always so stunned to hear her say something that ridiculous that I don't know how to respond. Even now I find myself mentally running through possible responses that I could say to her. Most of them aren't very nice......the majority of them fall into a category of mess-with-a-Momma-Bear's cub and she will respond with full fury. I think about how I could educate DSis in how Tourette tics work, but she isn't interested in hearing it. With all the possible responses I come up with (in my head), I have chosen to just try to ignore her opinion. Let it go in one ear and out the other.

Today was normal Sunday activities - Attending church with multiple family members, teaching Children Church, eat lunch with friends and family at a favorite cafe.

I am choosing to make myself use the laptop trackpad instead of a using an external mouse. I have used a mouse for about 40 years so it is a habit that is firmly ingrained in me. I packed the mouse & USB dongle up and put it away so I couldn't easily reach it. This is my fourth day of only using the trackpad and I am starting to get the hang of it. I still find myself reaching for the mouse though so this change in workflow is going to take some time to become the new normal.

Nancy - having an open house every 2 weeks is something I haven't heard of before. I find it interesting how things are done differently depending on where we live. We usually have an open house once here. Usually, it is held soon after a place is listed for sale.

Today our Dog of the Day is Buddy (Great Pyrenees). He is the oldest of all of our dogs and is the calmest. He is also the dog with the most hair and needs to be brushed more frequently than the other dogs. I removed about a half WM bag of hair today when I brushed him. It boggles the mind where all the hair comes from because his hair doesn't look any thinner.

Wishing you blessings as you go through all this 'concussion road', Kathryn. Back when I had one (gained by falling on black ice at the University parking lot in Quebec) I had no access to the information that you're now finding. Just know it took a long time to get over the effects. When they finally took an xray of my head because I was having so many headaches, it showed I'd really cracked my skull. To this day, almost all headaches are centered there -especially if I get a migraine.

We spent the day going to the casino at Niagara S cenic in Niagara Falls. Not my favorite place to be but many friends wanted us to go on the bus trip. Had to wait to leave for one passenger as he'd left his wallet at his camper. And he abided by the 5mph rule. Then in Amherst a local police car did a uturn and pulled the bus over for a DOT check -across 3 lanes of traffic, an access lane and onto the shoulder. One guy who deals with DOT all the time expressed that it was highly illegal for a local to stop a loaded bus on a DOT ID. So I'll guess we'll see. There was nothing 'illegal' at all about the bus, just detained us for about 15 minutes. Unfortunately he was putting the entire bus in jeopardy just by where we had to park. I really hate giving a casino our hard earned $$ and I really would not care if we didn't go. I insisted dh take his flannel over-shirt. He was thankful. Lot of people who went froze big time. I KNOW it's going to be cold there.

Guy just stopped to change date (again) for dh doing their winterization. It was supposed to be Saturday morning, but postponed till Monday because of Florence. (They're about 15 miles south of Charlotte). But even now it's sounding not good travel for tomorrow so they're postponing till Wednesday morning. They'd do Tuesday but dh has 2 appointments that day.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I had a much needed nap. Got the yard watered. Other sheets are clean ready to go back on the bed. I've had dinner.

It's lovely to walk into your neat entryway, blessed! :)

I've heard of the every-two-weeks open house idea.

((LadyM)), that is not a reasonable response from your dsis. She must really be uninformed about this. Beginning a response with "the doctors say that... .." might ward off dismissive statements. At least it would make it clear it is experienced specialists she is dismissing, not ds and not you.

With more light (and fewer sheets of rain) on the subject, I see we did have a tree go down, but it fell short of our power line in back and doesn't seem to have broken up any other trees, at least not badly.

It does turn out that ddil must leave for work in the morning super early, first retrieving medicines from the controlled climate place they were stored in case of power outages at the clinics, and getting them back to different clinic locations. She's surprised the clinics decided to open, but they are weighing a lot of different priorities. Ds will spend tonight through noon tomorrow evacuating people from flooding areas to shelters as the water rises, so ddil will have to bring the children here. Ds expects to be able to get home by noon, and if he's been able to get any sleep, he can take the children then.

Dd20 is so grateful to have put her feet up for a while without deadlines. But ddil's news lit a fire under her and she's transcribing an interview now so it will be done in a quiet house. She'll be painting the interviewee's portrait tomorrow from her photos.

The reception for the quilt artist, sadly, may never happen. Needs at the artist's home at the coast, and the homes of many of the expected guests, have to take priority, and there just won't be time before the next show is scheduled. But on the other hand, she must have been so relieved that this largest series of her quilts were at a super-protected inland gallery during the storm, and with everything she had to think about, she could relax about their safety. If it works out at all, I'm still thinking of trying to visit the show sometime.

Dee ... as Harriet may know 1-95 has been shut down and many of the state highways are closed as well in NC.

My friend who lives in Aiken, SC had guest from Wilmington ride out the storms with her, but once the husband learned the power was on in his home they packed up and left yesterday morning. My friend who spent 20+ years in Orlando and had experienced many storms tried to convince them to stay, but he refused to listen.

Last night they had to spend the night in their car because the roads were impassible and tonight they are spending the night with kind strangers because there was no place to stay and they still can’t get to Wilmington.

I have several friends who live in Charleston and Hilton Head that planned to drive to NJ for this weekends reunion, but I’m not sure they will be able to get there because of the closure of 1-95.
