Art, Craft and Needlework, February 2021

Postby Harriet » Wed Feb 03, 2021 12:28 am

What will your February creativity hold? Are you finishing up projects or starting new ideas?

When we're designing or planning a new project to paint, weave, scrap, knit, sculpt, crochet, sew or write, what fun we have to look forward to!

There's also so much satisfaction to be found in going back to an UnFinished Object and completing it to enjoy.

When we can balance our creativity with keeping up with our work (so that there's no guilt, no worry that we "should" be doing something else) we can have the best of both worlds - a calm, well-ordered home AND the chance to create things of beauty to place within it! That's a double blessing to strive for!

My motto this month is - do something creative every day.

Yesterday I finally got to some hand spinning with the drop spindle.
Did a bit today as well.

Thinking of Nancy's motto, my contribution most days lately has been decluttering and planning of organizing craft items. I've found it's okay to combine little project items that don't go together into one container, as long as I label well. Found items have included sketching pencil, stylus and glass "rocks" I will give to the fish so he can decorate, lol.

Dd22 is having her one-person show this month at the Gallery where she worked. She called it, "Short Attention Span", because she has so many different types of art she likes. Last evening was her "artist talk", done by way of Zoom. Everything so simplified because of the times in which we live, of course. Many of the people coming through the Gallery to view this month are there in the building because they do Covid testing there, and then people see the posters directing to her show. What an unusual time.

Harriet so good to see you posting!

I am frustrated with spinning had to set it aside, the one batch of samples bigger size are not color fast so my hands turn out what ever color the
fiber has been dyed. Sigh... so picked up knitting have requests for more dish cloths for guys one and a half done on a beige set, had to stop
till my hands heal up.

I have been coloring for adults with brush pens.
