"Many of the moments when you think, 'I wish I had handled that better,' or 'I should have seen that more clearly,' aren't really about poor judgment. Often, the root cause is either rushing through the task or skipping basic self-care.
Get an extra hour of sleep. Stop trying to do so many things at once. Go for a walk or get a little exercise. Take a breath and actually think for a minute.
You can do a few things well. You can't do everything well. If you keep scattering your attention across seven different priorities, you'll keep making mistakes that your rested and thoughtful mind would never make."

Hi!
I think there may have been frost overnight. The window on the back door fogged up when I opened the door to let the cats out. It's 66 degrees inside the house. Dh has been complaining about the house being cold, but he hasn't turned the temperature up yet.
There are numerous fall fairs and festivals this weekend including one just south east of here that gets thousands of people. Note to self... stay off the back roads this weekend!
Dishwasher is going. I did a load of laundry last night and it went into the dryer before I went to bed.
I have a few pots and pans in the sink having a hot, soapy spa day. The bubble bath is about to end for that portion of their day. LOL!!

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
Our low has dropped into the 50s the last two nights - this is the coolest weather we've had so far. High mid-seventies today.
I walked ddog two laps this a.m. but didn't have fitbit on so steps didn't get counted. A.m. routine done, although I'm full from my omelet and will probably eat my fruit a little later. Dh has been in and out already today. Had Rotary meeting this a.m. and then a trustees meeting for the temple. And came in, changed clothes, and went to walk with ds.
I got the printer upstairs set up last night. That was a win.
We're having dinner out with friends tonight - A and V, and the couple we visited in August in FL. '
Calendaring: dh invited a couple to our home for dinner week after next. I'm going to Nashville on Monday p.m. to research at the Tennessee State Library and Archives there on Tuesday and Wed. I'll come home on Wednesday p.m. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by my calendar right now - we have friends coming for a few days at the end of this month, and then another friend of dh's coming through in Nov. Possibility that dd would be home the same weekend, I offered her the day bed in my workroom upstairs...

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
Dh finally left in frustration with me. When I'm trying to do something I'm not going to be able to give him my full attention. A friend (former client like family) sent us two live lobsters and a lot of other frozen seafood. Despite excellent instructions, he needed my assistance in getting them to our refrigerator. Unfortunately, we'll have to cook them tomorrow night, not tonight.
He did not understand my request to take the comforter to the cleaners when he went to bowling last night. He indicated I should have brought it downstairs for him, yet it was on the kitchen table all day yesterday. So I need to do that this a.m., I'll go by post office for HOA while out too.
I got my calendar straight in my head and on paper. I could not shift the Nashville trip to week after next because of the dinner invitation dh extended this a.m. and to which I agreed to. Best to go on next week anyway, but a little overwhelmed because I'm watching genealogy webinars all day next Friday - a week from today. I did go ahead and make my hotel reservation for Nashville too. I guess the lobsters were way more important than what I was doing?
I need to head out for those two errands next.

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
Well I never did get back here later yesterday, did I? And I couldn’t even tell you what I did instead.
So far today, I’ve had breakfast while watching a recorded late night show, then had a psychiatrist appointment. In our quest to find the right ADHD meds, our next attempt is going to be plain old Ritalin, since the Concerta I’m currently on, which does help a little, is the same med, pretty much, just extended. I had some tea and chocolate (I wonder how Kathryn’s doing?), and then DD came down sobbing. Apparently, she’d had a rough therapy session. Not my business what about, but I did my best to comfort her. She perked up when she got an email that a subscription box she ordered was shipped. She then cheerfully told us all about it.
I’ve been noodling on my plans for tomorrow morning — dfriend K and I are going for pedicures. The bad news is our appointment time is 8 am.
I normally sleep in well past 8 on a Saturday, and tomorrow, I’ll need to be out of the house by 7:30. I’m hoping that showering tonight and having all my clothes laid out will get me out the door in time. I told K she has my permission to let herself into my kitchen and holler up the stairs for me. She laughed. I told her I wasn’t kidding. At any rate, I won’t have to take time for breakfast; we’re going to go for brunch after.
It’s been cold here, too. Furnace is on; I had an extra blanket last night.
Twins, you might think about scheduling some nothing days on your calendar. (Easier said than done, I know. I’ve tried in the past when we were so crazy busy with the kids.)
Well, I should get lunch figured out before I have to take DD to work.

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
I am going to my d sis and d brother in laws surprise anniversary party tonight - we have to leave at 5: 00 ish
I bought corn stalks this morning
- I didn't grow corn this year even though I love fresh corn
I bought a couple pumpkins
went to the bank to pay back dh for getting my meds - paid up
meds mom
meds me
helper got mom up and dressed.
we all tried feeding mom - she didn't eat much.
dds exercised mom and cheered her on. very sweet
emptied dw
- filled with late night and breakfast dishes, dog dishes - even though it is not completely full - I turned it on again.
folded towels
feeling overly anxious and cranky - I haven't been to a party in a long long time (family parties yes but not others)
I am sure my social skills are very rusty.
time for car work, feed the birds
halloween decorate

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
hello d mystery glad to see you today!
hope you find the right ADHD meds! (((your sweet dd)))
hi d twins. it's hard when they want your attention "now".
dh just looks at us - and gets flustered. He doesn't realize that request, unless it is a literal emergency, doesn't mean that I have to drop everything.
yay on straightening your calendar!
have fun with your errands
yay on printer set up.
hello d everyone.

CI ~ Slept in till 7:30 after being up till eleven last eveining.
No journaling happened was not planning on it in the a.m. today any way as I knew I had to be out & about.
Short walk with ddoggo happened.
Then town day for me.
Groc. shopping x
Got Rx. x
Went to two yd. sales on the way home.
Got take out had to eat that as I'd not had coffee or bfast before leaving.
unloaded rig.
uppacked purchases.
Put food away including things in the freezer down stairs.
Made some coffee and sat down for a breather and spilled it all!
Had to clean up that.
Put the new table cloth on and it goes really well with the colors tan and chickens on it.
Fun reminds me of when I had hens.
